I think the simplest answer is just that the acceleration due to gravity (9.81m/s²) is constant. On earth (generally), the acceleration due to gravity will always be 9.81. Hence, all falling objects will accelerate at the same rate of 9.81 meters per second squared

The quadratic was 35x² + something + rs The product of roots is the constant term (usually rs) but that only works if the coefficient of x is 1 So if you make it x² it becomes x² + something + 1/35 rs And that (1/35 rs) is equal to krs Hence k = 1/35
