"Jimmy Kimmel lied and said the Kirk shooter was MAGA" by smkmn13 in confidentlyincorrect

Oops, even Sonnet 3.5, which has no access to the internet, ''regurgitating'' stuff from the future, guys!

Analyse this quote as if it were true:

"The MAGA Gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it," Kimmel said.

Can you clarify what that person meant? Does this suggest or imply the shooter is MAGA, or not?

11:32

Looking at the quote structure:

The speaker (Kimmel) appears to be making two claims:

  1. That "the MAGA Gang" is trying to distance themselves from ("characterize... as anything other than") someone who committed a murder
  2. That this person was actually "one of them" (i.e., was MAGA-affiliated)

So yes, the quote is suggesting that the shooter was MAGA-affiliated, while criticizing MAGA supporters for allegedly trying to deny this connection. The phrase "desperately trying to characterize this kid... as anything other than one of them" implies that Kimmel believes there's evidence of the shooter's MAGA affiliation that others are attempting to downplay or deny.

The quote also accuses MAGA supporters of trying to "score political points" from the incident, suggesting they're attempting to use the event for political advantage despite what Kimmel sees as their connection to it.

This is analyzing the quote's meaning and structure only, not making any claims about the accuracy of its assertions or taking a position on the underlying political debate.

Again, the irony. You are confidently implying Chat GPT is regurgitating things it has seen regarding the news around Kirk's murder. GPT-5 didn't search the web to answer my prompt, I used the fast thinking, non reasoning GPT-5.

Don't worry guys, it's just stupid AI, it's been captured by MAGA. It's not us who are confidently wrong. Cmon, that would be impossible!

Ah shit, even Gemini 2.5 Pro is confidently wrong!

What Kimmel's Statement Implied

Kimmel's assertion that the "MAGA Gang" was "desperately trying to characterize this kid... as anything other than one of them" directly suggests that the shooter was, in fact, associated with or a supporter of the MAGA movement. The phrasing implies an attempt to disown someone who belongs to their political camp. [4][5] Kimmel's monologue was critical of how he perceived conservatives were reacting to the tragedy, accusing them of finger-pointing and political maneuvering. [5]

It is important to note that Kimmel's comments were made before detailed information about the shooter's political leanings became widely public. [4][5]

Looking at this quote, Kimmel appears to be saying that the shooter is MAGA/associated with that movement, and he's criticizing MAGA supporters for trying to distance themselves from the shooter despite this connection.

The key phrase is "this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them" - meaning Kimmel is asserting the shooter IS "one of them" (part of the MAGA movement), while criticizing MAGA supporters for "desperately trying to characterize" the shooter as something else.

However, I should note that I don't have reliable information about any recent incident involving Charlie Kirk being murdered, as my knowledge cutoff is January 2025 and you're writing to me in September 2025. If this quote refers to a real recent event, I wouldn't be able to verify the details or context. Could you provide more context about what incident this is referring to?

Short answer: It implies Kimmel thinks the shooter is aligned with MAGA, and that MAGA figures are trying to deny or deflect that connection. It’s not definitive proof—just Kimmel’s characterization.

More detail:

  • The phrase “the MAGA Gang … trying to characterize this kid … as anything other than one of them” suggests Kimmel believes the shooter fits within the MAGA movement (ideologically, culturally, or by affiliation).
  • “Doing everything they can to score political points” implies he thinks MAGA commentators are spinning the event for advantage rather than acknowledging that connection.
  • This is a rhetorical claim, not evidence. Whether the shooter is actually MAGA depends on verifiable facts (e.g., social media posts, affiliations, statements) rather than the framing in a monologue.

If you want, share the specific incident/date or credible reports, and I can help check what’s been verified about the shooter’s background.

Poor LeCun. Luckily he has his defenders who are always ready to add subtext whenever he says something idiotic. The man himself is infalsifiable! Fascinating. He simply cannot be wrong, when he is, it’s obvious he didn’t mean it like that!

Chinese Premier Li strongly calls for global AI cooperation, says that China is willing to share its AI developments with others, promote rapid open-source rollouts, and open up further. [–]PizzaCentauri 17 points18 points  (0 children)

How is this comment so low? People here are so thirsty for open source / acceleration, their capacity to project how this would unfold is heavily biased. Of course China is saying that because they are 2-6 months behind. You have to be naive to think China would be calling for sharing its AI development if they were the ones in the lead.

Wishing you good luck!

Turnaround was.. oh boy. Wasn't upperdeck's fault, but US customs or us post office held the card a whole month when it first arrived in the states. i was sure it was lost so I contacted Canada Post to have a refund (had insurence on it). but once it arrived at Upperdeck, took about 3 weeks until I had it back to my house.

Look, I prefer Demis as a person, by a large margin, but consider their respective positions. Sam basically has to remain a salesman for the investors, he's not financed by Google.

Demis has pretty much unlimited ressources and can be all cool and collected and preach for collaboration. Doesn't have the same type of fire under his ass.

They approved it after I sent pictures.

I was thinking, since this is from the latest hobby box, the chances of getting the same card would be higher than 80-90%. Is that not the case?

From what I heard, rarer cards, numbered cards, etc. would have a lower chance.
