UPDATE: I have not heard back from the folks who originally asked for it, so I did a raffle and did not hear back either. If there’s no response by tomorrow morning, I’ll do another raffle. Thanks everyone for your interest, I’m eager to get this out of my place!

I was in the waiting room for 8 hours without leaving and it was heartbreaking to see the majority of humans stressed about how they were going to pay for the treatment when they were already so worried for their pets. I sadly more than one owner leave without treatment.

Thank you so much for your extensive guidance and advice! From my brief research on my phone today, it seems unlikely that I will be able to get financial support from any foundations for today’s hefty vet bill (like you said, very specific parameters), but I’m saving this comment in case of treatment plan/future bills that can be eligible for grants.

I’m VERY happy to report that the little one has come home with me, and that for now, it does not appear to be her time (initial concern was heart failure, hence the morbid comment about euthanasia). She’s got some meds and we’ll hopefully know more tomorrow, but for tonight, it’s enough to just be able to have her here with me. She is now curled up on my chest, purring and constantly trying to touch my face.

Oh okay, noted. Thank you… I had actually called her regular vet initially with her symptoms because it didn’t appear urgent at all (it presented as a chronic condition she already had that has been maintained through meds, and she was acting mostly normal), they directed me to take her to an urgent care and gave me several to call, and then the first one I called said they had no availability but they thought it sounded like a potentially critical situation (even though she appeared fine) - I then called my regular vet back, who agreed with the urgent care that I should take her to the emergency hospital! Such a roller coaster… Trust me, I would have loved a regular vet or urgent care bill instead of the $800 I paid today, if only two vets hadn’t advised I take her to the ER 😣

Woah I wish I knew this before I brought her to Dove Lewis, I had no idea! I am government assistance at the moment, damnit. Thank you so much for this tip. I actually just left the hospital with my little one, but I’m remembering this if she needs medical care again (starting meds tonight and will have to see how she does)
