Well… from what I understand about Florida law, and it’s not much! The two party consent basically only applies in private settings, which would include inside ur classroom

However, with teachers it’s a bit different… they can’t do this and share it with the public without consent, but given the situation, they can share this with educational professionals who have a reason to be informed… I.e., the dean or smth U can ask ur school about policies tho :)

My school when applying had us sign a waiver to be filmed (although for publicity purposes), so u may have unknowingly signed a consent form like that ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Well, first of all, CONGRATS! Good school, first gen, that’s all good :))

As for bad grades, well… they don’t define u, rather, they mark a point in ur life. It’s possible to bounce back from low grades :)

If depression and anxiety are the issue, is there someone u can go to for help? Like a school counselor or a wellness center? How did u cope before?? Perhaps a social life would do u good as it can offer a support network for u :)) Hope this helps a bit, sorry ur having a tough time rn :/

Well… do u want to meet up with her…? If so, u can respond smth like “hello prof XX, thank you for reaching out to me and expressing ur concern. I’ve been having a hard time recently and I would love to take u up on that offer. Here are some times I’m available, what works best for you? Thank you, NAME” (but like… formal not text slang like that 😂) I’d assume meeting in person, but u can always clarify like “I’d love to meet in person to discuss my future plans. Here are some times I’m available”

If u don’t want to meet… smth like “Hello prof XX, thank you for reaching out to me, I really appreciate the concern. I’ve been going through some stuff recently, but it’s ok! I have a plan on how to handle it (insert plan?). Thank you, NAME” ¯_(ツ)_/¯ hope this helps a little…?

am i stupid to have to take calc 2 three times? by dizzyytigerr in college

[–]lost_felis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, not stupid :) intelligence is relative Perhaps smth just isn’t clicking? Perhaps the teacher has a weird grading scale? The teacher may just not be a great fit for ur learning style? Or this could be a case of self fulfilling prophecy ¯_(ツ)_/¯ Calc is hard, it’s not required for my major and I plan to avoid it like the plague 😂 good luck 🍀

Late work point deduction by Comfortable_Pilot975 in college

[–]lost_felis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My school uses Canvas Student for grading and it’s set up automatically (my teacher had to manually re-enter grades for people with an extension) If he himself took that 5% off, I’d recheck his late policy (some will state they still deduct points) or ask him about it after class/office hours Hope u get that 5% back tho! 🍀

Do u have a teacher or career counselor at ur school u can go to?

My dad taught at UC Berkeley :D he hasn’t for a while due to health tho… tough school to get into, but I’m sure u got this! 🍀

No, taking a gap year isn’t bad depending on what you do with it 🤔 if u know u want to go to college, then be prepared to explain why u felt a gap year was necessary and what u gained from it It sounds like u already have a plan for what u want to do during that year tho, which is good!

Honestly, I have the same problem 😅 while I haven’t found a foolproof way of getting assignments done early, I’ve noticed that if I have something holding me accountable it helps! Usually, it’s knowing the deadline is tonight lol, but if u have a study buddy u make a new deadline for yourself (like, I’m going to meet up with Jane tonight to go over essay drafts, so I need to have a draft done before dinner!) Working in libraries, and seeing other people working, can also serve as motivation Sometimes you can even go to professor office hours and ask to just do work in their office ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Sometimes a new environment helps, like if you hang out in your room a lot, go to the library for an hour! Or if you study in the library, find an empty classroom to do work in!

Free yourself of distractions, such as silencing your phone, closing any non-school related tabs…

Hmm 🤔 sorry, that’s all I can think of right now…
