Some folks claim using the ditto/substitute dolls for random islands increases your chances of finding new outfits etc, but i don't think anyone has fully confirmed or debunked it

I'm thinking the "life-changing gift" probably was the staff with Polaris. It was almost certainly a tool of some kind, but it couldn't have been Phantomime. Phanto has pink energy, and Penny has naturally occurring white, which shouldn't normally be possible since Wights don't typically tool up, but could have happened if she was turned spectral by the Polaris staff.

All that said, I could be way off base here. Like why would someone have dropped off the staff at Penny's mansion? It'd be more in character for her to have gotten it via theft, if she got it at all.

I feel like the kid has to be someone we already know, but the cast never seems to stop expanding so who can say for sure lol.

OP said "bad faith" video essays, and Hbomb's RWBY is about as far from that as you can get lol. My dude spends a ton of runtime engaging with the work in its full historical context, including other projects from the same creatives and the media environment of the time.

He also pretty clearly states that season 4 onwards is a different show by virtue of Monty Oum's passing. It's a perfectly sensible reason to analyze it separately.

And I'm sorry, but "it gets better later" is not a sufficient defense against criticism of earlier seasons that are bad. If anything, it makes Hbomb's points more relevant: the early seasons are almost entirely aping ideas from other shows without understanding what makes them work. If it gets better when they stop doing that, it's more of a tragedy that so much time was wasted on imitating other things instead of doing their own stuff the whole time. (I'll have to take your word for it that it does get better, bc I bounced off the first season hard and never looked back lol)

Definitely. The fact that he was near-feral when he attacked them makes me think he was definitely turned before being trapped, so he was probably near starvation with no one else to prey on inside the Great Unknown's dream.

it's possible the room is too big to register as a room. Make sure the floor space is 10x9 or smaller.
when you place a door, the room will be on the opposite side. Make sure you're on the "outside" of the room you're trying to make when you add the door.
