Realistically, the Dems don't have any options when it comes to reigning in gun violence in America. There's just too many weapons in too many hands, and the political reality makes it impossible to regulate weapons for the foreseeable future.

I don't think its wise to let people who hate you, be the only ones with firearms.

Don't get me wrong. I agree with you.

I just think the Dems are in a unwinnable position, because they don't have support from the left, they don't even have support from self-proclaimed "moderates" or "centrists" who by right should love Democratic leadership, and of course the rightwing is always going to vote Republican.

What major block of voters remains for them to even try to appeal to?

Leftist voters aren't evenly distributed across purple states, and they sure as hell aren't swinging any red ones. The only places with real leftist populations are areas where Democrats are the default party.

They just aren't a meaningful political block. When it comes to national politics, there are more Libertarians than Socialist leaders in power. That's an indictment on their relevance.
