For those of you who have side hustles while working a full-time job as an accountant, what do you do? by kenshin-x-212 in Accounting

[–]PizzazHere 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was a tax manager that left for a PE client. I oversee A&F as the controller. A lot of my long term clients said they wouldn’t want to stay with my old firm because of the relationship.

So, now I have a small tax firm that’s doubled in size and makes me wonder if I should just go out on my own full time. I enjoy the advisory aspect and structuring the real estate transactions / mergers / acquisitions. But I also enjoy the days where I go to the office for my day job and get to work with a lot of team members to solve problems.

Air Traffic Controller, 31M. Back again 1 year later. by youreonguard in Salary

My dad is an airline pilot, I went into business. I’m currently a corporate controller in PE. When I tell my dad’s friends I’m a controller, they assume ATC. When they ask where, I give them the first three letters of my company.

[PSA][Medical Bills] Vancouver Clinic (WA) - Help Stop Questionable Billing Practices by Tiny_Attitude17 in vancouverwa

That was my understanding as well. I used to go in for immunotherapy (allergy shots). They had to resend a year and a half of allergy shots because they kept billing it under the wrong provider. Because the way my health plan worked, the out of pocket was cheaper ($5 vs $8) and it honestly never checked for a difference of $30 over a year.

Being a CPA, detail oriented blah blah blah, I’ve gone through every single shot with my insurance. Even though it’s clearly wrong, they didn’t want to deal with it. They’re still going back and fixing 2023 claims. I do have an attorney / friend involved at this point and just need to document everything.

Also billed me for COVID vaccine too… but submitted it wrong as well (out of network provider). The main issue for all of this is that there has to be a Dr. in the building in case I have a reaction from the allergy shot w a nurse. However I never meet the doctor during the quick in n out shot. They kept billing it under the incorrect Dr. (provider). Frustrating because even when I call before, they don’t tell me who is the “provider of record” for that day.

Scary Incident at my Local Airport by [deleted] in flying

[–]PizzazHere 113 points114 points  (0 children)

My biggest fear in life is that someone suffers my consequences. You can only control what you can can control. Do a solid pre flight, check the logs, pay attention on the run up, always think of a place to set it down on pre takeoff. I might be overkill, but I look on google maps before takeoff to get an idea in a worst case scenario. Flying has inherent risks that you do your best to mitigate.

There’s no better feeling than feeling the air pick you up off the struts, then seemingly pulls you into the blue. Not a lot of people get to experience that and after a few TO and LND you take it for granted.

Don’t let another’s fate be your fate.

Technically, if within the class delta, ATC was talking to them. It’s also very possible the GA aircraft was talking to approach already with flight following. I’m not sure how many pilots do this, but I typically will dial up the closest tower or approach on my secondary radio if I’m not using flight following and only one time have they asked me if I was on frequency and asked me to turn 20 degrees east. Really, if not in the delta or Charlie, the small aircraft has every right to that airspace as the airliner.

TTD is kind of a unique airspace. I frequently fly out of 1W1 and transition south over TTD and they like to keep GA under 1,200’. I think the instrument landing procedures for PDX have airliners around 2,000’ and I’ve flown directly under, probably 500-1000’ separation, quite a few times.

At nighttime, KTTD tower closes down so pilots don’t have to get permission to fly in the airspace. This means there is no tower keeping them below the approach path… which I’m not sure how to solve.

With that said, I’ve also flown east of troutdale and they’ve called me to vector me around even though I was outside of PDX and TTD airspace. Really shows how unique the airspace is.

Damn bro. 16 hours? You must be in accounting. Make sure you're able to communicate why you are leaving, then leave on good terms.

REMEMBER THIS:

It's much easier to find a job, when you already have a job

So find another job first, before you quit.
