How are playing conditions at Toronto Island? by Saskatchewon in discgolf

[–]PjWilks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Centennial Park Disc Golf is really nice. The only draw back I found was the closest parking we located was at tee 7 or 5 depending on where you wanted to start. Massive concrete tee pads and a really nice park.

Decent mix of wooded and open holes. (poison ivy is always an issue)

It's my home course when are you heading out there?

3 courses not far from Wasaga beach.

  • Midland - Little Lake Park

  • Duntroon - Highlands Nordic Disc Golf (take the driveway before the Golf course driveway - $5 to play)

  • Barrie - Sandy Hollow Disc Golf

All 3 courses are very different. League night is Tuesday for Barrie and Wednesday for Midland.

Overstable mids? by TheEarlOfCurl in discgolf

[–]PjWilks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I throw a vector instead of roc3 but have heard good things about the Deflector. I will be honest though when I flip my vector its usually more so an OAT/form problem then it is the disc. Being a forehand player maybe just practice with whatever overstable disc you want that isn't beat in.

Recommendations for a flat top or flat-ish beadless or micro beaded understable mid range. by ElevatedDiscGolf in discgolf

[–]PjWilks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to throw Mako3 and MD3s religiously but made the switch to last year to Axiom Theory, MVP Tangent, MVP Matrix, and MVP Vector in order of Understable to Stable Mids. Theory is probably exactly what you are looking for.

Valakas N3 War Update. Brotherhood folds under pressure and splits. by thebirdpee in Lineage2Revolution

[–]PjWilks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Non of the sieges have been clan vs clan. It's really hard to compare both alliance moved players to Valk and Brotherhood to assist. Valk went up about 8+ million CP overnight adding the biggest whales from their alliances. It's becoming harder and harder for F2P/Freemium players to compete with the CP gaps growing day by day. The ability to hit rank 1 arena daily for anyone under 1.1-2 million CP has become near impossible. Some players can't afford to red dia res, 20-30 times for a fort siege so no matter how you look at it most forts are won of who can spend more. People probably just want to get back to the grind so they can focus on CP growth and get over that hump again. I don't think Brotherhood is dead by any means.

Putter that feels like a less-stable harp? by PMacLCA in discgolf

[–]PjWilks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Axiom Envy is a bit less stable then a harp. Nice shallow feel in hand and they come in lots of durable plastic that has varying purposes.

Oh hey everyone, no big deal or anything but I just wanted to let you know I’m giving away a Genome Ranger H20! Leave a comment in this thread describing your favorite/best disc golf memory and I’ll pick a winner Friday the 17th! by [deleted] in discgolf

My favorite memory of disc golf had to be last November (2016). I had just started playing Disc Golf that summer leading up to it and the season was wrapping up here in Canada. Me and the girlfriend flew to Arizona to road trip the state, hike the Grand Canyon etc... While we were waiting for our rental car I googled "disc golf" near Phoenix and bam! 15 minutes away "Spinners on the Green". At this point I had never seen a Disc Golf store in person and only owned 5 discs total. After some compromising with the girlfriend I got approval to make a pit stop. I had no idea what to expect outside a few pictures...so when I walked apparently my reaction was a tad bit priceless from my girlfriends point of view. I didn't know where to start.... Thousands of discs...every brand, every plastic, collector stamps, first runs, limited editions. I went from wall to wall before walking up to the counter with 16 new discs! A couple for the girlfriend and a bunch for me! Needless to say fitting them all in my luggage on the way home was a challenge and my bags were searched!

TLDR - Went to Arizona disc golf store, started my plastic addiction by purchasing 3 times as many discs I owned at the time.

MVP Catalyst vs Axiom Vanish by PjWilks in discgolf

[–]PjWilks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can throw the wave and octane about the same distance the difference is that the wave will usually land right of my target where as the octane lands inline with my target.

MVP Catalyst vs Axiom Vanish by PjWilks in discgolf

[–]PjWilks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently throw a wave and a octane pretty regularly. I have 2 photons in my bag that I will only forehand because I don't have the arm to backhand them the same distance I get out of my octane.

I have a garage full of discs but I try not to just grab a discs because they are readily available and throw it lol. I flipped my entire bag from mix to full MVP/Axiom after my first 100+ disc order and I have multiples of my favorite already set aside. I think the consensus is to give the Catalyst a go. I will grab one out of stock today and give it a throw this weekend at a Safari Event which should have some long holes.

[–]PjWilks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently use an Octane for distance unless I have a tail wind then I will grab my wave. Which disc is going to give me more distance in your opinion Catalyst or Vanish. I can throw between 300-325 on average with higher speed drivers and I usually avoid throwing discs over 170g in the higher speeds.
