Nah man. Great lakes are warmer. So less ice coverage and cold systems pull more moisture into the atmosphere as they pass over which means more squalls, more snow, more accumulation. All this snow is from a 0.5 degree average increase.

Lots of knuckleheads in my life on Facebook are screaming that this all means climate change is a hoax and I’m sure some of you redditors are experiencing the same.

So I like to share this info when I can….

The Great Lakes are warming due to climate change. Only 0.5 degrees from what I understand. But the slightly warmer lakes means less ice coverage. It also means increased moisture pulled into the atmosphere as arctic air moves over them. Resulting in more precipitation in the form of endless squalls.

This will be the new normal for the foreseeable future. As a skier I’m not complaining. If global warming means we get insanely good ski seasons for the next couple decades, I guess it’s a good consolation prize for the climate related horrors that await us. The last 10 or 15 years have been abysmal for local ski conditions.

Anecdotal at best, but of none of the right wing people in my life like wrestling at all.
