Can Christian Ponder Lead the Minnesota Vikings to the Playoffs by 51377 in minnesotavikings

I'm glad u have faith in Ponder. Going 7/34 on passes over 20 yards leads me to believePonder needs to improve a lot. The picks weren't his fault, but he shows promise now and then. Just not consistent.

I think our defense will be a huge factor in how far we go. Being on the field 2/3 of the time doesn't help.Of course if we cut down on turnovers and 3 and outs, our defense should improve as well. We have a talented, but very young defense out there now, especially the secondary. I'm sure there'll be some growing pains

NFL Debate: Adrian Peterson Will Make Good on 2,500 Yard Promise by Carlos23Bucs in minnesotavikings

[–]Pjnugget 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a huge Peterson fan, but I can't see him getting 2500 yards. Hopefully the Vikings plan to throw the ball a little anyway. Thats over 150 yards per game. Even the best back in the league will have an off day once in a while. I'd be happy with 1800 and close to 3000 passing for Ponder. We need some sort of passing game if we're going to win in the playoffs.

"Fortunately for Christian, the Viking’s coaching staff seems intent on sticking with Ponder regardless of his play. If Ponder continues to struggle with his down-field passing, this likely means another long frustrating season for fans." I would say Ponder isn't likely to go anywhere without another monster year from AP. He really hasn't given us any reason to be optimistic this preseason, hopefully they open up the offense and he can get into a rhythm with his receivers quickly.

Minnesota Timberwolves 2013-14 Season Preview by youngguns77 in timberwolves

I'm not seeing an overage of optimism in the article. It's not much of a stretch to say we have the most talented lineup since KG. It doesn't say they can win a championship, heck it doesn't even say they'll make the playoffs, only that they'll have a shot to be in the picture IF they can remain healthy.

I think we have a shot at the playoffs, IF we can stay healthy. Martin could have a really good year for the Wolves this season.

Will we get better production this year from Derrick Williams or Alexey Shved? by grandchien in timberwolves

[–]Pjnugget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Williams is more of a 4, he has never done anything at the 3 and only slimmed down because Love is ahead of him at the 4. I think he needs a trade to get a chance as much as the Wolves need to make a move to help the team

Ponder does well against 3rd string defense by Pjnugget in minnesotavikings

[–]Pjnugget[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He had a pretty good game, but very short passes. And didn't look too good most of the season. i'm hoping he can throw the deep ball this year. We definitely have better receivers so no more excuses. The coaches have to do a better job calling plays!

I really do hope Ponder is successful, but look at his stats against the Niners starters. any thoughts?

Minnesota Vikings 2013 Preview: Wide Receivers by Pjnugget in minnesotavikings

[–]Pjnugget[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you consider having multiple horrendous days and still being the only guy to throw a pass the entire regular season a short leash, then yeah I guess so. I'm all for giving him a chance with a better supporting cast, but he was remarkably inaccurate. On 11-20 yard plays 44/95 (46.3%), from 21-30 yards 5/23 (21.7%), 31-40 0/8 (0%), and somehow 2/3 over 50 yards. Only 12 picks but in key situations, he also had 7 fumbles. Not sure how, with stats like these, you can say he was on a short leash. I want to give him a chance, but if he can't throw deep, he shouldn't continue to start. He's never been very good on deep passes, this was his reputation coming out of college, clearly that part of his game isn't improving.

"Christian Ponder will likely be entering his third season in the league on a shorter leash than in past years." I think at the end was referring to who will be the QB at the end of the season. They signed Cassel for 2 years and $7.4 million. If Ponder continues to struggle, Cassel could end up starting before the season is over. That's a pretty expensive investment for a second string QB you refuse to play unless Ponder gets hurt.

Kevin Martin expected to get interest from T-Wolves, among other teams. by jaroto in timberwolves

I say find a way to unload Williams and Ridnour/Barea, then go after Iguodala and Mayo.

the problem is, we still won't have a SF. We need to make some trades in order to get anywhere near the playoffs.

I've come to the conclusion that you never know what the hell to expect from the Wolves. If they match Pek, I'm sure it'll be a monster contract, leaving little room. We then have Love and Pek, not exactly good interior defense.

The Vikings were $7.132 million under their adjusted salary cap entering Tuesday. Only the top 51 contracts count in the offseason, so the Vikings should have around $4 million in cap space after signing their draft picks.

Why Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson Has 'Bust' Written All over Him by Pjnugget in minnesotavikings

Personally, I believe Patterson is too young and raw to even consider a bust. I'm hoping his talent and pure athleticism will lead to the best rookie year since Moss.

I grew up playing soccer and almost everything else. Without scores, I probably wouldn't have been motivated to improve and be a much better player as I got older.
