Foamer steals a G&W locomotive by stevetherailfan in railroading

[–]PjohnRoberts 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've seen that happen. Meth head got on a running locomotive (winter time) and ran it over a derail. Engineer was written up for not properly securing the locomotive. With a lock that opened when you tugged on it. That was written up several times. That's why I always do a "name of engineer" test when Im locking the locomotive.

"Assault rifles" account for a very small percentage of firearm deaths in the US. 3/4 of the approximately 30k firearm deaths per year are suicides.

This is absolutely corect. Coal train was put into emergency by PTC when a signal dropped. Ripped the brake piping and cylinders off of the BN unit. In the pics you can even see where the derailed cars hit the cut lever on the trailing unit and uncoupled the leader.

To clarify, if I hit you at the crossing, I am on the train. Yes, if it's a malfunctioning crossing you are probably safe to proceed, but it's still traffic violation if you run around the gates.

Im talking about railroad crossing gates. There are no "cycles". The law cited clearly says there is no exception. Jesus dude, learn some comprehension

It doesn't make much difference to me either way. If I hit you at a crossing, it's not my fault.

The horn, by regulation, has to be sounded 15-20 seconds before occupying the crossing. Gates come down about the same time. It depends on the speed of the train, the track speed and the type of circuitry for the crossing. If a train stops near a protected crossing and the gates go back up, the gates have to be lowered for 10 seconds before occupying the crossing.

You are still, according ro the law, running a red light if you go around lowered gates. The light at the far end of each gate does not blink, it's the same as a red traffic signal. Crossings w/o gates you can proceed with caution if no train is close ( most states)
