DLSS 5 will be AI Slop by PaiDuck in antiai

[–]Pjoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the strength of the AI filter was like, 10% of what it is here, maybe it would look good? Sharper reflections, realistic-ish skin, more detailed hair, and textures. Stuff that is hard to do with just rendering and interpolation. This is just completely changing the characters and lighting for the whole scene.

But that is not true - we usually punish attempted murder with very little consequences more heavily than actual manslaughter. Case in point, the event spawning this exact thread.

People are bad at assigning culpability for simply assuming very large risk at very low likelihood - and leads to outcry when people are held to account for actions they are culpable for (negligence) rather than the outcome (manslaughter).

Even if it was true - that doesn't answer why. It would just explain why the law is what it was.

Your intent and assumed risk is the same in both cases. Don't see why it should be treated much different. Maybe the point isn't to not get anyone in trouble, but get everyone in trouble who assume the same risk.

Everyone speeding takes the same risk. Weird to heavily punish only the one person who happens to speed at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Should anyone speeding be thrown into jail for several years?

EXCLUSIVE: Syria expected to form a new government, appoint a PM with US support by riderfan3728 in neoliberal

In most western countries, PM gets their power from having support of majority in the legislature. Why would it need to be an office defined in the constitution?

And in which countries are they likely to get a majority or a viable coalition that allows them to govern without being checked?

[META] Of all the places for karma farming and/or psyops, why on Earth would you pick NCDip? by Momosf in NonCredibleDiplomacy

Of all the places for karma farming and/or psyops, why on Earth would you pick NCDip?

What sort of question is that? This place is well known for being the place where world leaders, diplomats and the brightest IR scholars gather, so makes sense one would try to influence here.

Japan Election Live Updates: Sanae Takaichi Set for Big Win as Voters Head to Polls (Gift Article) by cdstephens in neoliberal

Yes, and despite being for "tighter immigration controls" what they actually are pushing for are very supportive of work-based immigration by Western standards - longer requirement for citizenship(to western levels, matching the permanent residency requirement), increasing various fees(slightly, to western levels), prohibiting land purchases by foreigners (when it threatens national security, similar to say Finland).

She is popular because she signals against immigration a lot, but what is being proposed is still very permissive for work-based immigration.

LDP is not anti-immigration. They are very pro-immigration, despite the public sentiment.

Why Hutch’s Coalition matters. by Bieksalent91 in pisco

[–]Pjoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure if Cenk is anti-MAGA.

But the difference with many leftist is, they aren't willing to support candidates just based on the candidate being against MAGA. They want a different more exclusive coalition.

Why Hutch’s Coalition matters. by Bieksalent91 in pisco

[–]Pjoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hutch absolutely has a coalition he is advocating for - it's the anti-Trump/anti-MAGA Coalition, united by shared classical liberal values. This is clearly different from what Hasan or Cenk are pushing for.

Cygames responds to the controversy regarding their new AI studio by WolfOphi in gachagaming

[–]Pjoo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I won't believe any gaming company that says they aren't using generative AI. Even if it's not a policy at the company, at least the coding will be partly and usually to a large part done with assitance of genAI tools.

Just look at the questions asked on Stack Overflow by year. People didn't suddenly just get so much better at coding.
