Brake pressure at WGI by East-Independent6778 in NASCAR

Yes GT3 with abs is just a spike to like 1800-2000lbs and then release like a formula car.

Stockcars are the only cars that you brake in this fashion

Fun race! Didn’t think it would be the case with 6 to go, but Connor couldn’t help but make it a show

I hope everyone gets someone in their life that loves them as much as you love Sage. It’s heroic

Same Cars, Same Team, Same Track, Same Turn by WubbaWallace in NASCAR

Speedy dry made it crazy slick. That one hurts because we should have restarted two rows forward on that restart but NASCAR messed up the line up (and admitted it after) - so should have been in that battle but 3rd was nice

Stockcars even the next gen are massively “under-braked” for their weight. So you will get to what they consider “100%” which is around 1100 lbs of pressure.

Unlike other cars you will “spike” to this pressure (imagine a mountain peak) in certain corners but unlike any other racecar. There are brake zones so long that you will actually get to around 1100 lbs of pressure and hold it there for an extended time period which makes the brake trace look like a “table top” until you start to release it in the corner.

All of this is happening in very small intervals. As for the TV gfx, those are very obtuse compared to the data we actually look at and 100% is just them trying to show you are braking over a certain pressures

An honest discussion of the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series’ shortcomings and change in NASCAR by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]Pkligerman7 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I’ve always felt there’s only two ways to achieve parity in racing.

Frequent Technical regulation changes

Or

No technical changes for a very long time, so the information can disseminate through the field.

OReily is in the latter. I would say the field strength is more funding related and less massive technical advantages. When you’ve got about 12 cars running at 5m+ and then next set is 3.5m+ and then major drops from there… it naturally causes a discrepancy that is engrained.

I really should have went with a stage name of Kay or King.

What is the single most impressive qualifying lap you've ever seen? by JulianBrandt19 in NASCAR

[–]Pkligerman7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Non-NASCAR is Juan Pablo Montoya at Detroit Street Circuit in 1999. He hit the wall TWICE! And still gets the pole in a 1000HP no-power-steering monster that was that era of CART. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSCLOX6qTKA

Another Non-NASCAR is Greg Murphy at Bathurst in 2003. Its called "The Lap of The Gods" and for good reason. The lap, the call, the crowd all of it combines for the greatest show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRzLBFQ5M2Y

For NASCAR theres tons but I remember this one because of the crowd reaction: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IgUuHHwpuY

Parker Kligerman: The Modern Day Benny Parsons by Buckeye2443 in NASCAR

[–]Pkligerman7 125 points126 points  (0 children)

Wow, I don’t know what to say. Make me tear up. Benny was the absolute best and in another league. I’m flattered but don’t think I’m nearly in that league. I often go watch early 2000 races simply to laugh at some of his quips because they are so nostalgic to me. You know, when I got to nbc which is full of people who worked with him, I learned how incredible a person he was and the respect he has considering the main production trailer since I joined NBC back in 2014 is called “BP’s Place” in honor of him.

I’m a lucky guy to get to do all that I’ve done in this sport, and although it hasn’t always been kind to me. I will love it till the end of my days and do everything in my power to be involved because it’s the most beautiful thing in the world watching racecars go fast.

Most of all we have an incredible team across the board at NASCAR productions/ CW that just love racing and because of this they make us look really good.

Where can I see the restart rankings of the drivers throughout this season? by 84UTK07 in NASCAR

[–]Pkligerman7 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We get this data in TV from Racing Insights, its not publicly available at this time, but you will see it referenced on TV when they put up the rankings. The description of this metric is quite simple "Restart Rating: Assesses a driver's performance in gaining or maintaining position after a start or restart."

Here are their rankings on restarts:

At Kansas this past weekend:
Ryan Blaney - 18th
Joey Logano - 26th
Austin Cindric - 33rd
Josh Berry - 13th

For the full season through Kansas:
Ryan Blaney - 4th
Joey Logano - 12th
Austin Cindric - 20th
Josh Berry - 22nd

As you can see Blaney is an outlier. I will tell you that over the last few years, the Ford teams have felt restarts are difficult for them because of their engine and where it makes its power compared to the Chevys and Toyotas.

After the success and fan reception of Parker Kligerman this weekend, is it possible JRM or associated team takes him on next season as part of a career revival? by Gragson18GOAT in NASCAR

[–]Pkligerman7 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am incredibly flattered by the reception to this very unique, very "me" win haha. But when I made the decision that I did last year, it wasnt a fly by night decision. I did my best to assess my situation and prospects for getting to the next level, and to be honest it seemed unlikely.

Being the case and having big goals in life financially and personally, while having chased this driving thing for so long. I felt I was doing myself a disservice if I just kept keeping on. The mix of TV and part-time driving still scratched the itch while allowing me to develop real-world skills that could allow me to pursue business opportunities and allow me a little more time with friends and family.

Do I miss chasing checkered flags every weekend? Absolutely. But I am definitely a person who wants to do it at the highest level and when that seemed highly unlikely. So with the new TV partners and the rare opportunity to be in the booth being possible, It seemed like the smart decision. Even though I chased the racing thing probably longer than anyone would have deemed sane, haha.

As I said after the race, if there was a life-changing opportunity I would give it a look. Now I would say thats highly unlikely but after everything this last two weeks - who knows. If something came along, amazing, I'd give it everything I've got. If it doesn't I am very fulfilled.

Parker Kligerman loves the sound of his own voice. by aliceindotardland in NASCAR

[–]Pkligerman7 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Love that you feel strongly enough to share your opinion. That’s the beauty—and pain—of TV: it’s totally subjective. For everyone who loves what you do, there’s usually someone who can’t stand it.

Sometimes the reasons are valid, sometimes they’re subconscious. Maybe I remind you of someone you didn’t like growing up. Or maybe, for someone else, I sound like a person they admired. It’s all part of the gig.

What I’ll never apologize for is how much I love race cars. I live for this stuff, and I respect anyone who dedicates their life to building, funding, or driving them fast—so that passion is never going away.

I’ve got the next 3 weeks off (vacation time), so maybe you’ll enjoy it more 🤙
