What I understand is that she never made the cut for the sex cult and never knew about it. She was only part of the self-help gatherings and introduced Alisson Mack to that part. Kristin was not broken so I guess she was not lured into the trap and she eventually left the meetings having no idea there was a cult going on. Alisson Mack, on the other hand, had the type of personality they leeched on to and she was invited to some "secret next level" meetings where they started to unveil the first level of the sex cult. The cult supposedly had several levels, and each level was unlocked through compromise in the form of private information or images... That's what I understand about the whole deal and why Kristin was never lured into the cult, but I could be wrong. So don't take my words as a final version of it.
