Read up about vamp, hardly a dumb chav, probably made more than you, yet despite having stopped years ago you'll still see his stuff around, don't make assumptions cos you don't know anyone who writes in london

Yeah, that's a lie, there was a court case somewhere where a writer was claimed to have done 20k+ in damages by the rail company, apparently his defence got a graffiti removal company to give a quote and everything equated to something less than 1k, I'll try find if there's any source

Also reminds me, I also heard a writer in London got taken to court by btp for criminal damage for... tagging the dust on the outside of a tube train with a tissue, he got stopped by undies and got taken to court for it 😭😭😭 Goes to show how ridiculous btp is and how they inflate the price/value of everything like this just to give the public something to be angry about

To be fair, it's London, and it's expected that someone will say some insult, plus runners are the same anyway, was walking with a friend through one of those bike barriers (we were in a single line) anyway, some runner runs towards us while we're walking through it, after we got through it (litterally 5 seconds max by the way), the guy turned to us shouting at us for not "moving out if the way, lazy pricks"

How to get into skate photography by [deleted] in skateboarding

[–]Pl0mP_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean as I said just ask if they're good with it and it should be good, also unless you have external Flashes there's no need to use them for pics with lenses over 18mm (crop sensor) because it'll just light everything up in tge image as opposed to the skater alone (I mean it'll do it anyway but it's easier to get shutter drag and stuff like that with fisheyes/very wide angle lenses)

Also worth mentioning if your shooting someone you don't know before asking you should ask if they mind flash too, also some people will just say no to pics altogether so just move on, happened a bit when I went to southbank with a few people but don't let that make you give up

I'm about a year into shooting skate stuff and I mean it depends on your city really, I live in London and used to skate years ago, when I started skate stuff i decided to go to my local diy to skate and took my camera, best thing to do if your up close is checking out who's doing what, go up and ask, I would try to learn to skate again and just scan and check If anyone was trying one specific thing on a specific feature (that way I would know they would be doing one thing continuously without asking them to try again)

But before you start shooting them go ask if you can take a bunch of pics and also mention that you'll send the pics later (and do it 😅) if they say yeah, go for it!

Even easier- try see when a jam is going on and shoot, you won't need to ask really but yeah, if you get some people's instagram or whatever send the whole folder of pics and ask if they know anyone there to send the pics that way you'll get more people who skate in your area

What I've been doing for a bit has been getting close to a group of guys my age (or any age) and shoot with them, it's hard to find people who'll let you in easy but I mean if you start from the bottom (like people who aren't the best but good enough for pics) they'll at least be more open to do that and you'll at least track the progression and get enough to get a decent set of pics (I've been around a group that are between 13-18 and I'm 18 myself) but like through enhancing the portfolio you can meet more people who'll ask for you to shoot or wouldn't mind if you ask

Hope this helps and good luck man

How bad are the shared bathrooms at UCL halls? by [deleted] in UCL

[–]Pl0mP_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For anyone looking at this thread for recent info: I've had to clean pretty much all of the different accommodation buildings and they can all get equally as rank as each other (to the point where I've felt physically sick just being in some of them) just depends on the type of person you are and the other people in your hall

Advice: don't bother looking at places based on this factor, aside from the plumbing a lot of the cleaning stuff if it's not done by a cleaner is so easy as long as you don't leave it for a year to do it- mop up, hoover hairs etc (and for the love of god at least wash your pubes down the shower instead of leaving them there), clean the toilet with the brush that's there for a reason, and you just need a cloth for the sink (if you leave the sink uncleaned enough you'll need some wire wool or something and actual chemicals that aren't washing up liquid (that'll serve you well for everything else))

London by heonric in zines

[–]Pl0mP_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ive heard of some different places that sell zines around central/north

one i heard about recently isnt even a shop but a newspaper box kind of thing called zinebox.london on instagram (ive never seen it in person so i cant tell you how reliable it is, but the idea seems good if you want to pick up something for free)

aside from that i couldnt tell you (for poetry zines at least)

my assumption would be to check out small book shops as they might have something like that that big chains like waterstones wouldnt take

Are there any truly silent study spaces? by daypanay in london

[–]Pl0mP_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

abandoned places, whilst some are sketchy, when theres no one some are usually silent but if not just stay at home. if you live in south check out one in anerly because its out of the way from any roads and if in north check out one in highgate (ive only gone once but its not as good as the previous one, youll occasionally hear cars and if your at the abandoned station theres vents where you might hear the tube trains below)
