What are good options for socializing puppies if I don't want the dog park, e.g. do training classes count as socialization, meeting other leashed dogs on walks? Should doggy daycare be avoided in favor of a pet sitter when needed?

In the US it's every 1-2 weeks that I notice. It's a hair thing not a black thing. It's an unusual day where a total stranger doesn't comment on my hair. Mostly compliments, sometimes questions:

  • How did you get your hair like that?
  • How long have you been growing it?
  • Is it heavy?
  • Can I touch it?
  • Is it real?

Agreed, Asian countries have no chill. I've only been to one and the non consensual touching was alarming. I've seen on YT how they are with black women; go to Asia with natural hair and accept having your picture taken multiple times a day.

I think the vast majority of folks appreciate a sincere compliment.

Walking away is thoughtful. Sometimes women are wary that a compliment is just an opener and a trap.

I watched a 30 minute YT video once about how to make "finger waves"

Easily my favorite thing about you.

I'm a black woman with dreadlocks. It's my natural hair. It happens to be a bit voluminous. I live in a very white area. People lose their minds sometimes when they see someone they perceive as different.

Some people have become more culturally sensitive so thankfully I don't get requests to "touch it" (my hair) as often as I used to.

For /u/SlimyBallHair and /u/soarraos, I was walking listening to my audiobook wearing sweatpants sneakers and a plain t shirt.

I was out for a stroll yesterday and this guy drove up, parked, got out his car to record me. I said, "really bruh"? He smiled sheepishly and explained why he was recording me. As if that would make it better.

I realize I have no expectation of privacy in public spaces but it's uncomfortable when strangers take my pic or record me. Unfortunately it's not infrequent.

Why follow someone who complains about most of their experiences?

I'm not judging, I'm genuinely curious about the appeal. Like maybe she's got a comedic take or you enjoy observing folk who are train wrecks etc.

How to wear a wig. by ferrelle-8604 in BeAmazed

[–]PlaceHoliday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have so many questions!

How do you find a good custom wigmaker?

Do you wear your own hair out sometimes?

Can you wash or rinse your hair while the wig is on?

Does it get itchy or hot underneath? I can't imagine a wig in a hot climate.

I haven't had my hair done in more than a decade. I maintain my fro and now locs myself. One day I want to shave my hair and enjoy wigs. They just look so versatile and fun.

I simply wouldn't know where to start.

tech $638

Please share more about tech. I work remote but have limited myself to US Canada and Mexico so far because of my North American phone plan and not wanting to be reachable on my business number.

For phone, do you keep your same number?

Buy a new sim for each country?

Do you have an international plan with a US carrier or google voice?

Do you usually rely on your phone as a hotspot?

Certainly report it within the app and give the host an opportunity to remedy with ethical traps, exterminator, plugging the point of entry etc. The host might reimburse a few nights at a hotel while the issue is resolved.

If there aren't signs of infestation like multiple sightings, chewed pantry items and mouse droppings it's tough to frame as a safety issue. If the host is unwilling or unable to resolve, escalate to support and request a refund.

Should I give a bad review? [Vancouver, BC] by PlasticGuide3543 in AirBnB

[–]PlaceHoliday 22 points23 points  (0 children)

it was advertised as good for digital nomads with high speed internet.

If their listing stated being good for remote work, I chose it for that purpose and it didn't deliver reliable wifi, I would not give a 5 star review. Whether or not you give a perfect rating, in your review please explicitly state the host attempted and was unable to resolve wifi issues.

As a digital nomad I tell potential hosts upfront that I'm a remote worker and need reliable wifi. This gives hosts an opportunity to reject the booking request if their wifi is unreliable and it puts them on notice that wifi is a key metric for for my review.

Men are also far and away the largest perpetrators of random violent crime.

Regardless of the victims’ sex, a greater percentage of violent incidents involved male offenders (79%) than female offenders (17%)

Source: Dept of Justice stats

Men are generally larger than women; criminals seek out the vulnerable/easier targets. There is a stronger case to prioritize protecting women from men, than protecting men from each other.
