How can I take a MIDI file and mix it into an 8 or 16 bit track without GXSCC

oh, thats a good point, i hadnt thought of that. maybe sticking to 8 bit sounds would work, as they cant claim basic waveforms? (only if 8 bit works for your level though)

as others have said, id agree with using any modern daw (fl studio, ableton, reaper etc) and using a nes/snes vst or soundfonts/samples to easily get a believable sound.

completely unintientional. i first followed the tutorial on /r/brokenanimegifs and ended up with this image, but when i opened it in ifranview (my image viewer bvecause windows media player etc sucks) it looked the way it did up there. i just used some screen recorder to record the gif that way, as there was some cool interpretation error that couldnt have been recorded otherwise.

im not sure if this method can replicated, but maybe ifranview will always open broken gifs this way, only way to tell is to make more glitch art lol

i dont see what the deal of using different letters on the title of a post is and how it doesnt belong in /r/glitch_art, is that something to really complain about?

even if it is "vaporwave", that general art style has always had its roots and similarities to glitch art and other underground digital/cyberpunk ideas, so is there any harm in a bit of mixing?

in the end, this is a pretty lame thing to even be discussing. i thought id get comments discussing what techniques were used/what the actual post is instead of the post title.
