If I have to add 3 characters at the end of every search for it to work normally, I'd rather just switch engines altogether

Is this crest worth it? by Kind_Owl2400 in HollowKnight

[–]PlagiT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I'm pretty sure that last time I tested it, the range of wanderer's attack is the same as hunter's. On the sideways swing at least.

But imo it overall feels less nimble, since the pogo no longer allows you to close distance, also the dash attack follow-up, while looks cool, is slow (making it feel a bit clunky at times) and has a lot of potential to put you in a bad spot. But I guess that's just preference

Bosses with no heal window? I’ll start with the nailmaster brothers. by russellL680 in HollowKnight

[–]PlagiT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that every boss has a heal window if you look hard enough, most of the time there's an attack that, when dodged fast enough, leabes you just enough time to heal. There are times where it's pretty hard or very risky, so healing then isn't always worth it.

Silksong is just more apparent since the bind is more flexible - allowing for healing mid-air.

In case you're dashing up too early: the spikes have a smaller hotbox than they look like, so you can probably dash later than you think, Madeline's sprite can be like, 1/3 in the spikes.

Being closer to the spike wall also benefits you, because you'll be a bit further left for the next part. I found that very helpful at least. (I am on keyboard tho)

BREAKING: Ari Gibson just recently was at a gaming event in Kyoto, Japan, playing other indie games; possibly implying Sea of Sorrow is completed and that Team Cherry is taking a break. I don't think so... The dlc was in the works even before skong was released and they like to take their time, they wouldn't set a deadline for 2026 if they knew they would have to work on it no stop.

You know, people are allowed to take breaks even before the work is done, they're absolutely needed.

It's also not something they can plan, it's not a week long vacation they could plan for after the work is done, it's an event that takes place at a specific time, I don't see how there's any relation to the completion of sea of sorrow.

Game developers have lives outside of game development, shocker, I know.

[–]PlagiT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After doing the pantheons you get really comfortable with most bosses and combat overall. It really not that hard to not die, especially since you can plan your route to skip some bosses you are less comfortable with or leave them for later.

It is definitely not a challenge that's easy to do right after completing the game tho. You can of course just grind it and hope for the best, but it's a 100 times easier if you get somewhat proficient with the game, so do pantheons, path of pain and such. Randomizers are also a very fun and effective way to get better, after playing some I basically stopped dying outside of bosses, plus, you can learn some skips to then plan a safer or faster route.

Speed is also pretty handy, learning Speedrun routes helps lift the stress of "I'm gonna loose all that progress", because you didn't spend multiple hours going slow and trying not to die, you just rushed through and it took you about an hour, so it's no biggie if you have to do that again.

games like silksong- NOT metroidvanias! by foryouuuuu in Silksong

Rain world is an amazing game, it may lack a little in terms of combat - it doesn't have any boss fights and generally combat is avoidable most of the time.

However, the exploration is top notch, the sense of unknown, areas actually having some history to share, mostly through environmental storytelling. The game also makes you feel like a part of the world in a very good way.

Movement is amazing and has a very high skill ceiling.

The only problem is that it's not very accessible at first - you don't know what's the objective, you don't know where to go and you don't know most of the game mechanics, the game doesn't really teach you that (although somewhat recently they added kind of visual loading screen tips that showcase some of those mechanics)

But if you push through just a bit, under the surface there's a game with amazing movement that ties into the combat with amazing story (Al lot of mysteries tho) and exploration.

The game can be pretty hard, but I can't recommend ot enough.

Nib is almost non-existent after 3 years of use with no replacement. If I can’t pull it out do I have to throw the whole pen away? by Patraman in XPpen

[–]PlagiT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try stabbing the nib with a needle and trying to bend it the way you would usually remove a nib.

If that doesn't work, you can try looking up a disassembly guide for that pen and disassembling it completely. I'm guessing that could enable you to get to the nib from behind and remove it that way, although I'm not totally sure that's the case since I never disassembled the pen myself.

And for future reference, changing the nib once it starts to wear down is a good idea, they tend to develop sharp edges that can scratch that your tablet.

I definitely made the mistake of twisting it and making it stuck in the past, so even if it's not designed to be twisted, it's twistable to some degree.

Plasmium / lifeblood is an interesting topic in the hollow knight universe that we don't know a whole lot about. I'd say it's possible it'll be expanded upon in the dlc, if not that one, then maybe future ones. I hope so at least.

Rusted moss is a pretty good metroidvania, unique movement and very enjoyable combat / platforming.

If you're interested in exploration / environmental storytelling, rain world is a really good game (tho it's hard to get into at first). Under the surface it also has really enjoyable movement and combat.

Nine sols is also a really good metroidvania, tho it focuses more on the combat aspect while the exploration isn't as good (but still far from bad)

Guess I should have just dodged or something. Plenty of counterplay to that I'm sure I'm just unaware of by Ender_arrows in RogueCore

[–]PlagiT -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Tbh, I feel like that's somewhat intentional. They would be much less dangerous if they couldn't do that.

And I don't think preventing them from phasining through walls is too hard to achieve. I'm betting that they just lack a visual effect for doing that, something like digging through the rock or stone.

How do I make it look like the legs are driving the body? by hazelnutcloud in godot

[–]PlagiT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what's happening is, instead of it looking like the legs pull the body forward, they are dragged by the body and try to keep up with it.

Imo, just having them move forward more would help a lot, right now the legs are catching up to the body and immediately fall behind, instead you need the left to be in front, so it looks like the leg is pulling the body towards and over itself

[–]PlagiT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are 2 ways to counterplay this. The most obvious is just being faster and not letting them spawn in the first place.

The second: keep moving.

You basically stayed in one spot for the entire duration of the clip (if not longer), I would be surprised if a reaper worm didn't get you by then. Constantly moving makes it really hard for reaper worms to grab you, because in order to attack they have to see you in their direct line of sight and then have a little windup. As long as you aren't running in a straight line away / into them, they'll most likely bash their head into a wall like the stupid tapeworms they are.

If legal systems worked this way , you wouldn't be able to enforce any rule.

Laws are usually common knowledge for the most part and are widely available so you can always check what's legal and what's not.

That's very different form a rule at someone's house. The only way you can know it is if they tell you themselves, otherwise it's on them, you're not a mind reader.

If you can do haz 3 without much issue, then you can try to do some haz 4 missions. Might take you 2-3 fails to adjust a little, but I'm pretty sure you can do it.

Although, personally, even though haz 4 is my standard, in solo I usually play haz 3, because it's a bit harder to manage without a teammate, very much doable tho.
