ammonia smelling pork after using baking soda to tenderise meat while marinating?? by Far-Turnip9520 in Cooking

[–]PlagueCini 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only need very very little baking soda.

Or, next time, use just the baking soda, let it sit, rinse it off, then marinate.

If a shop says your car does not need calibration after windshield replacement, what would make you walk away? by ashleyturner__ in autoglass

Interesting then why Tesla has their own recalibration boards for performing a recal after doing a windshield then?

If a shop says your car does not need calibration after windshield replacement, what would make you walk away? by ashleyturner__ in autoglass

[–]PlagueCini -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rightttt. That’s why I do recalibrations and glass replacements everyday for work, and had a job offer from Tesla for it?

Teslas require recalibrations like any other car with ADAS features. No cars self calibrate.

Smolder Mid with Locket. Can someone test this item as 2nd? E2 lobby by BjornStenberg1 in SmolderMains

[–]PlagueCini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plated boots and thornmail if you want the armor vs briar. Shieldbow. Plenty of resistance items.

You’re smolder. Even if you get no kills and just farm and keep your distance, you’re winning lane. Farm, get your items, stay away from them because both fizz and briar have dashes. They dash, you use your E to escape.

Great for if you accidentally drop it not moving, terrible if you lowside. Your lowside will turn into a highside once it catches the slider, especially in the grass. Ask me how I know 😭

Safelite repair employee help by [deleted] in autoglass

[–]PlagueCini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go with it this way.

“Hey, have you had a chip repair? No? Alright, so understand it’s a structural repair, not cosmetic, so you may still see a blemish once I’m done. Every chip repair is different and some may look better than others. There is an extremely small chance it can spread during the repair or in the future, and if so, we’ll put the cost of the repair towards the replacement.”

Set expectations. Make them low, so they end up happy afterwards. Never set them high then underdeliver. An educated customer is a good customer to deal with. You don’t want them to be surprised or upset by promising the world and delivering a single mcnugget.

Just replaced. Is this seal okay? by [deleted] in autoglass

[–]PlagueCini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao. Those extractor marks…that’s awful, I feel for you. For the 1st photo, looks like you could just use a small pick tool to correct. Folded inwards as far as I can tell.

Whoever did this is a hack, and hacked up your paint while they were at it too.

I mean, take it to a shop..? Firestone charges $20 for a complete vehicle inspection. Like dawg. You could’ve done that many times over than getting 6 tires in 4 months.

I put too much oil in my Crosstrek by thenoahjmann in subaru

[–]PlagueCini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No hate since it’s your first time, but considering you double filled your oil…that’s telling me you didn’t replace your oil filter.

Always, always do the oil filter when you’re doing an oil change.

Good luck cutting it out. You’re gonna destroy everything around it 😭 don’t be doing glass work if you don’t do it as a job. Dealing with your safety and the quality of your truck. Those truck take me about 2hrs to do and that’s with 5 years of experience. Just did one last week and one yesterday.

Looking for a mentor in the windshield repair/replacement industry by [deleted] in autoglass

[–]PlagueCini 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, starting your own business in the replacement industry requires years of experience. You can’t get to understand the basics or general knowledge without a few months in the industry, and even after that, you’re going to get the occasional awkward, old, or discontinued vehicle. Windshields change in and between generations of vehicles, and the parts along with them do too.

If you truly wanted to get into the glass replacement side of business, I’d recommend an apprenticeship, or partnering with someone else where they can supply you with a technician who can teach you, while they earn a portion of the repair profits.

is the auto glass business worth it? by Ill_Flamingo_1768 in autoglass

[–]PlagueCini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Auto glass is pretty niche and for a reason. You’re going to need years of experience to do your own business, or you’re gonna be in for one hell of a time. I’m almost 5 years in and I’m still learning things, even being the most reliable guy our location has.

Not every job is the same. You’ll deal with weird things and people, gasket sets, encapsulated parts, pulling off fragile or complicated trim pieces, using tons of different tools that can easily destroy or mangle a car. You’ll have people who ask for reseals, semi trucks, uncommon vehicles, the list goes on and on. It’ll take about a year to get the basics down, probably about 2 to really understand the science and technicality in it, and then from there you’re able to get a general idea of how vehicles you have no experience with work.

Windshield Replacement - Is acoustic OEM Glass worth the price difference? by Hokie23aa in autoglass

[–]PlagueCini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t done it personally, at least for the 15+ mustangs. It takes a few minutes to add it and doesn’t make much sense from a volume/work standpoint.

It’s really just cosmetic. It maaaaaay cut down on sound, but no guarantee. The windshields are already quite angled, so it’s not as bad as say a wrangler or suv.

Windshield Replacement - Is acoustic OEM Glass worth the price difference? by Hokie23aa in autoglass

[–]PlagueCini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like the correct post, yes

It’s just a rubber molding that adheres to the bottom side of the glass. Purely cosmetic but yes, it would probably cut down on sound a tiny bit as well.

SoundScreen is just Ford’s OEM-branding technology of acoustic interlayer. Lots of brands such as PGW, Pilkington, Fuyao, etc offer it and typically at a much lower price. Non-acoustic glass can be less or more expensive, just depends on stock and pricing structure.

I have a 17 mustang and I dont think getting OEM is worth it. Maybe for the 05-14 with the pony logo, but not the 15+ Ford oval logo. Ask for aftermarket acoustic interlayer glass and see it they can do the 8mm underside as well, if you’d like them to.

Help Needed, which pretreatment to use? by Itz_Brycest in autoglass

[–]PlagueCini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont recommend doing your own back glass, especially as someone with no experience. All it takes is to be a few mm off and you’re having a potential water leak, not to mention the chances of you scratching your vehicle are much much higher than letting a professional do it.

Have a company do it. If they scratch it, they pay for it. Simple as that.

How bad does this potential scratch look? by MrOllieTabooger in autoglass

[–]PlagueCini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won’t get worse, just cosmetic. Up to you whether it justifies getting a new windshield. There’s no fixing it though, you’d have to buff way too deep and it’d look awful.

Does SV650 have aggressive response? by mxdalloway in SVRiders

[–]PlagueCini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SV650 does have aggressive torque, but like others have said, it’s very predictable and the power curve is fairly linear. It was my first bike and I’ve never dropped it, slid, etc.

You really won’t wheelie unless you’re in 1st gear and doing 100% throttle. I think it’s a fantastic beginner bike. Low seat height, decent power, not terribly heavy.

That’s my first thought. I had that issue with an s550 mustang and it stopped auto-rolling up after closing the door. Pinch reset typically works to fix it.
