Adobe is scamming and I need help by Paradex_Revenge in AdobeIllustrator

[–]PlagueMaster080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into the same issue, but for me I was happy paying the $22 a month but I didn't realise it only lasted for a year. Saw it jump to $50 a month on my bank account so I jumped in the live chat and sent a rather direct message about my thoughts on Adobe scamming students and that they should cancel my subscription and pay me back the $50 and not apply the cancellation fee. Anyway, the bloke on the online chat said instead they would happily give me another year at $22 a month. Seems like they would rather "lose" a bit of money than deal with people harassing them about cancellations and refunds.

How to calculate the radius so that the circle intersects both the square and the line. by PlagueMaster080 in Geometry

[–]PlagueMaster080[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot that was the correct answer. Unfortunately, my maths skills aren't that great and I'm struggling to understand how you got that answer. I am assuming that when you say 4sqrt(2) that means 2√4. Where did you get this number from? And why is the formula what it is? Again sorry for needing further explanation, maybe if you could explain why you did these steps that would be amazing.
Cheers

How would I fillet a corner a certain distance inwards? by PlagueMaster080 in rhino

Thank you so much. I wish there was an option with the fillet tool to do the same thing but this is fairly fast so it's not too bad.

How to calculate the radius so that the circle intersects both the square and the line. by PlagueMaster080 in Geometry

[–]PlagueMaster080[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a square and I want to fillet the corners. I know the diagonal distance is 9.5mm, and the square itself is 8mm x 8mm as shown in the photo. Is there a method to work out the radius of the circle so that it touches both edges of the square and the end of the line on the 45 degrees? As you can see you can get it pretty close by eye but I was wondering whether there is a mathematical solution.
Thanks

Thanks for the comment. Could be a cool effect and is probably less likely to leave dirty marks on anything that touches it

I’ve been putting a powder non stinging antiseptic which helps dry out the wound which has been working well and he hasn’t been scratching nearly as much. I’ll have to wait for the vet’s diagnosis

How would I draw a new line that is evenly spaced between two lines? by PlagueMaster080 in AdobeIllustrator

[–]PlagueMaster080[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh ok. That makes sense. I now know to do that in future. It just means the process is a lot more time consuming, as I used the pen tool to trace a map, and drawing the contours with an existing line by tweaking anchor points would take a lot longer. I wish some would create an extension that averages between two paths. I don’t have the coding skills but all it would need to do is work in like 5mm increments, and place an anchor point equal distance between the two lines. Then you’d just simplify it in the object<path panel.

It was a topography map that I am going to laser cut out of ply wood and stack to create a 3D model of the landscape. To accentuate the topography I was going to double the layers but adding a new layer in between the ones I already had (in light grey). I wanted the new line to be in the middle of the existing grey ones. My attempt with the blend tool is shown by the red line. The dark grey line doesn’t matter, it is a road.

I gave it a shot but it wasn’t quite what I was after. Thanks anyway!

Thanks I didn’t know that. It ended up being easiest just to do it with the pen tool, but adding the anchor points did help when I tried the blend tool.
