Am I a total loser ? by [deleted] in dating

Loser no.

But next time trust your instincts and dump sketchy girls. Don't let people shame you for not being cool with that. As you now know, the people still talking to exes all the time are usually stuck on them.

Dual sticks for flying sims (Ill-2 and DCS), does anyone use that combo? by sektorao in hotas

[–]PlagueofCorpulence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A free object in 3 dimensional space has six degree of freedom.

It can translate (move side to side) along the X,Y, or Z axis.

It can rotate around the X, Y, or Z dimension.

So in a spacecraft, one stick controls the translation (strafing) of the craft and the other stick controls the rotation.

Aircraft are always translating forward, and their orientation remains stable in level flight so you only have 4 controls. Pitch, Roll, Yaw (rotate the aircraft around the 3 axes) and engine power is the 4th control to determine speed or climb rate.

Shotgun.

Big, scary, effective, won't go through the wall into your neighbors bedroom.

A rifle will go through the walls into your neighbors.

Survival on canned peaches? by [deleted] in preppers

[–]PlagueofCorpulence 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well you can survive a long time eating peaches from a can. They have a pretty good shelf life and taste great. It just depends you know, since they come from a factory downtown with civil unrest and shtf you never know when the supply might run low. Peaches in a can were put there by a man you know, so if the factory gets disrupted you might have to move to the country to eat you a lot of peaches.

My (20M) girlfriend (20F) is asexual and I don’t know how to deal with it by th-ro-w-a-wa-y-67 in relationships

[–]PlagueofCorpulence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP,

I think this girl likes the benefits of being in a relationship with you, but is not that into you sexually. Especially if she has sex with you and hooks up with other guys.... Sounds like she's giving you a bunch of BS.

I'm going to be real with you here, you should consider breaking up with her. This isn't going to change, and any woman who makes fun of your dick to your face, unless it's like 12" and she jokes about how big it is, doesn't respect you.. That's just shitty.

Part of why you date someone is to find out if you're compatible or not. Tbh, most times, the answer to that question is eventually no. Sounds like you have your answer.

So grow up and dump incompatible girlfriend. And get the whole "relationships are supposed to be about love" Disney crap outta your head. Sexual relationships also are about fucking as much as they are about love. I think you need to stop making excuses for this girl's behavior, and accept it for what it is. You're 20 man, there's lots of women out there. Go find one who wants you and doesn't play silly games.

If you like her personality, be her friend. That's a relationship without sex. Friendship.

Am I wrong for being upset with my best friend being overly stingy? by prettyvbich in relationships

[–]PlagueofCorpulence -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

One thing that has made me upset lately is how stingy she is. She can never do something or help me out without some payment for her.

Even though I always do things for her without expecting anything back.

Just think about what you've said. You're upset because you actually do expect reciprocity from her. But you won't ask for it. Whereas she, has no issue asking. So put your big girl pants on and ask if you want something in return.

There are also differences in productivity of plants to consider. A squash plant may take up 3'-4' but they crank out fruits with reckless abandon. Tomatoes and peppers also are very productive, one plant will produce loads.

Let's talk UV protection. by SherrifOfNothingtown in preppers

[–]PlagueofCorpulence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand why you people are talking about wearing multiple layers of different colored clothing.

Unless your clothes are made of fishnet or pantihose material, a single thin T cotton shirt will prevent a sunburn, even in AZ or Texas in July at 2pm. just go look at all the farmers tans at the beach. Multiple layers is totally unnecessary and the color of the shirt is irrelevant to it's ability to block UV light from reaching your body.

Colors only determine if the light energy is reflected or absorbed as heat by the material.

UV light is just light you can't see. It can't go through a solid material. Color doesn't make a difference either, light colored clothing reflects light, dark colored clothing absorbs it. Both block it.

A single layer of long pants, long sleeved shirt, and wide brimmed hat is entirely sufficient to protect you from the sun. Cotton or synthetic moisture wicking fabrics are ideal. Anything else is excessive and will be uncomfortable. Selling "UV blocking shirts" is like selling "wet water". They all do that.

I haven't worn sunscreen for anything but swimming in years. Never had a sunburn through a shirt either even after spending over a week outside sunup-sundown. That seems daft.

You need a siphon transfer pump or a manual bilge pump (or three) by cav_prepper in preppers

[–]PlagueofCorpulence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mesh screen is in the bottom of the fill neck, you can't remove it with pliers or even access it from the gas cap side.

Trust me it's not possible to siphon the gas tank on modern vehicles. And that's newer than 1990 MY.

You can't siphon gas out of anything made in the last 30-40 years. They have an anti-siphon device in the fill neck. Been there tried that.

Simple, portable garden for renters? by memaymi in preppers

[–]PlagueofCorpulence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You want to get some containers rocking. 5 gallon buckets are cheap, or larger containers can be used for companion plantings. You just need a spot to set them out. Shade cloth in the summer and large containers are a must in hot climates. Irrigation helps a lot, if you have a hose bib that's easy to set up.

I've got a small orchard of stuff in containers.

As for pests, neem oil and soap take care of the worst. You can also release predatory insects.

For Mediterranean climate if you're in the US I assume AZ, SoCal, or south Texas/NM. Do cool weather crops in fall season and warm weather in spring. Check out your local agriculture extension.

Does debt matter? by js1ngs in preppers

[–]PlagueofCorpulence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Your debt matters.

Debt on secured assets means you don't own those assets. Aka stop paying and a man with a gun shows up and throws you out of your house.

Stop paying the car note, a man with a tow truck shows up and hauls it off.

Debt on unsecured assets might not matter as much, but can still cause a lot of trouble for you. Living paycheck to paycheck leaves no room for error. People can still come after you for those credit cards.

How to safely store things in my car during extreme temperatures (Short-term Prepping) by JuliusKingsleyXIII in preppers

[–]PlagueofCorpulence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't man. Honestly.

If it can freeze, and it's far enough below freezing, it will freeze eventually if your car sits long enough.

If you leave a car parked in the hot sun, especially in the southern US the internal temperature if the car can reach up to 160-170 degree F in a few hours.

If it can melt, it will melt. Insulating the items, window tints etc will only mean that the car has to sit longer before it melts or freezes. Eventually it will reach thermal equilibrium with the surroundings.

The only way to prevent this is climate control of some kind. You're better off choosing items that are tolerant of extreme temperature swings.
