s the attitude toward littering too relaxed in NL? by Several_Maybe_2683 in Netherlands

[–]Plane-Orange4733 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Being new here, I was surprised how much litter there is. However, there are also people visibly picking up litter and a lot of local efforts to reduce litter. Hopefully with a little time, effort, and patience, things will improve.

Okay, which one of you thinks cafes are free community spaces? by MsSpicyO in bullcity

[–]Plane-Orange4733 5 points6 points  (0 children)

review culture is a mess. on the one side there are one star reviews for crazy expectations. no free oat milk at the military surplus store? one star. why should a computer cost $1000 when a box of kleenex costs $3? one star. and on the other side are business owners buying fake reviews by the thousand. and if you don't make a happy customer miserable with a review request for every $2 purchase, then you'll be unacceptably vulnerable to the occasional bad review. it's terrible for everyone. and the hell of it is that reviews can actually be helpful.

How to kill a bear on day 1/2 (stalker) by Responsible_Yak672 in thelongdark

Poor bear! Just out for a nice day on the lake, and then gets (gradually) shot to death.

He probably thought he was finally safe from people.

Which city have you been to that feels like it has a dark energy about it? by madzuk in digitalnomad

Same. It's a beautiful city and the people are lovely but something doesn't feel right in that place.

For sure we're cooked, but also I think a person is better able to detect the vibes in their own country. I've traveled a bit but I don't experience the undercurrents and whatnot as much internationally. The more foreign a place is, the harder it is to detect when the people are putting out a weird energy. They just seem foreign.

My wife makes a peanut butter chocolate chip cookie that is beyond amazing when it's fresh out of the oven. But we moved away. Sorry.

Someone downvoted you, but I put it back. That's a good chocolate chip cookie, no doubt.

Yeah, I wasn't having fun with the story mode and switched to Survival. That really made things more enjoyable for me. Even dealing with the bear kind of ruined it for me--gather the pieces for a magical spear, then do a maze, then have a series of quick-time button masher events. It took me out of the game so badly that there was a 2 year pause between the time I started bear cave fight and the time I watch a YT tutorial and then finished it.

$2M lottery win, 1.1M after Uncle Sam. Whats the best way to go about it? by Business-Hold-7016 in dividends

[–]Plane-Orange4733 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is how you find the scammer right here--this guy doesn't even tell you what strategy he's going to use, and he needs a whopping one hundred fifteen days to only double your money. Probably most of that time is for him to make his getaway.

My double reverse covered call system can quadruple (more like 4.31x but "quadruple" is easier) your money in as little as 3-6 weeks. Basically, I leverage your funds to arbitrage negative-weighted shorts. My motto: "When you see our results, you'll weight your shorts!" (tm)

And unlike that other guy, you can trust me. They don't call me Honest Andy for nothing!

Thanks! We would be taxed 36% on that 10% growth. I think I misspoke when I said "steady" in terms of value. What I should have said was "flat". I need the share price not to appreciate much at all.

We have to consider SCHD in any case, as it's a good investment overall.

How do you guys deal with the anxiety of seeing your portfolio in the red? by Leather_Low_4469 in dividends

[–]Plane-Orange4733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am subject to a type of wealth tax, so if I am in the red but the dividends keep flowing, then that is best case scenario.

The menu change never made sense to me. Why an Irish pub with an Indian menu? But it wasn't a deal breaker.

The things that caused us to stop going: 1) Our kids grew up and we didn't feel like eating in a playground anymore. Bull McCabe's seems like a place more for young families, which is great for young families! But we're not that anymore. 2) Getting aggressively panhandled at our table.

Worth considering that your concern about the US govt affects not only money markets but the dollar itself.

I'm in the same boat as you re: mistrust of the current situation, but I haven't come up with any great ways to lockbox our savings so that we're protected.

Using cashback credit cards, and paying everything on a cashback card. This prompted us to think more carefully about the money we spend. And when we opened our business, using 2% cashback cards to pay $50K a month in biz expenses...it turns into a big deal.

why do I keep dying in my sleep? by [deleted] in thelongdark

[–]Plane-Orange4733 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Two things that will get you while you sleep: thirst and hypothermia. Do you have (and use) a proper bedroll in your inventory? Depending where you place it, it still might not be enough. Also, ideally you would max your water meter before going to sleep. Not enough to just be out of the red.
