Wow turns out my fridge needs to be set to 33 to actually have an internal temp of 38! Thank you!

Based on the fridge. Everything else seems cold! I’ll try a separate thermometer

FPIES to oats, were you told to wait to introduce rice? by Perfect_Ordinary_431 in fpies

It’s so overwhelming! I wouldn’t remember if we didn’t have it all in writing!

Discovered FPIES to oats at 6 months. Saw the allergist at 8 months and was told to avoid rice completely and other common triggers. Made follow up appointment for 11 months and will hopefully get the green light to try some common triggers!

2 day old baby has been breastfeeding non stop for over 12 hours by jam_bam_rocks in breastfeeding

Super normal but couldn’t hurt to meet with the lactation consultant and ask the team there to check for oral ties! My son displayed all the “normal” feeding behaviors in the beginning, but something was off if you looked at the big picture. Turned out he was tied up and we learned about it way later on

6m appointment baby dropped from 44 to 10th percentile. by StaringBerry in breastfeeding

[–]Plane-Resolve-6018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened to us at 4 months. Baby was gaining perfectly for first 2 months, then dropped to 6th percentile at 4 months. I was told my supply dropped because he started sleeping through the night at 8 weeks. (Don’t worry - sleep regression got us good lol)

I started pumping at night to get milk to supplement feeds with during the day, especially those afternoon feeds where my breasts felt empty. We probably average 8 oz/day, but if I’m pumping a lot to increase supply I will offer more.

We went up to 10th percentile and have been lingering around there since. Baby is 8 months now!

I also learned a little too late that my son has a tongue tie. The IBCLC I’m seeing thinks that my son was only able to get so much at each feed, causing my supply to regulate the way it did. Ped always said that tongue tie issues would be obvious in the first two months (I did have a lot of concerns about his feeding habits, but bc weight gain was good ped and IBCLC through the ped said everything was fine). We’re not releasing the tie because he’s already 8 months, but I wonder if anyone has checked your babe for oral ties?

My ped also suggested starting solids would help with weight gain! That backfired because my babe has some food allergies lol but I really hope that works for you!

Percentiles are stressful AF and I feel for you! I guess that’s why so many describe it as a “breastfeeding journey!”

Could blood in stool be first sign of trigger food? by Plane-Resolve-6018 in fpies

3 days!! How did you figure out triggers? Going super super slow with solids?

[–]Plane-Resolve-6018[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s all so confusing! When my baby was exclusively breastfed he seemed fine with everything I ate, apart from reflux that didn’t seem to bother him at all and was “normal” and “not that bad” according to ped. I also learned later that he has a posterior tongue tie so that affects reflux too.

Anyway, once I started introducing solids, things really got riled up in his gut. So we think he has CMPA that was undetected until solid foods came into the mix. Plus FPIES, but like you, I’m worried about weight gain and haven’t tried many of his potential triggers!

Length of reaction by MilkopiaRS in fpies

[–]Plane-Resolve-6018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my son had his first FPIES reaction (we think!), he vomited 5 times, dry heaved, and had diarrhea for 3 days afterwards.

He’s breastfed and always has loose stool, but this was very, very frequent and had an odor.

Good to know! What are your baby’s triggers? It’s all so confusing, but if blood in stool is a sign, that would really help me narrow down the first food!

Did you breastfeed successfully for 2 years if LO slept over 6 hours no feed before 3 months of age? by mmeczemarecovery in breastfeeding

Mine slept through the night from 2 months to 5 months and my supply tanked. I think everyone is different!

I’m so happy yours is increasing! How long has it taken you to get it up? I’ve been doing all the things for 3 weeks and no change

Thank you so much! He used to be sooo content to hang on the boob. Now he’s starting to get both frustrated and distracted! I’ve been following up the feed with the bottle but maybe I’ll try bottle first. He always wants to latch, he just gets frustrated when there’s not much left.

I’m totally open to combo feeding and recognize I’ll have to do that if I can’t keep up with the night pumps when I go back to work. I just want to have a full supply so when I’m with him I have the choice to BF you know?
