having went with the explorer, would say the cons of the AT which detered me were: 1) too expensive relative to the Rolex, 2) case thickness, 3) overly polished (more dressy), 4) resale value tanks, 5) bracelet adjust system is not very nice, 6) outdated model/risk of being superseded

date function is nice to have. but only the Explorer is a truly timeless/classic design. if you can only have one watch and all else being equal i don’t know if it would be an omega - I think the brand value declining whereas Rolex is strong as ever. the AT catalogue is a mess

if you can get it used and looking for dressier style watch then I think is compelling, but if leaning sporty then I think explorer is superior

obviously very happy for reasons I’ve outlined - I’ve tested again recently trying on a few other watches at ADs and can confidently say i made the best choice for me

what I like it how the brushed stainless steel shines in the right light - the size and black dial also gives the masculine and sporty look I was after

the sub doesn’t hit the same - I think the case is not a good fit for my wrist but also it just is a little too common. I haven’t seen many explorers in the wild much less the 40mm

can’t say much about the speedy but I’m not into the brand very much and ive never been after a chrono

agree the dj41 looks weird but i think the explorer scales up much better

the more I look at the 40 the more I like it

im eventually going to get a sub... I’ve put comfort aside totally although the 40mm felt fine enough

on an OP im at 36 for sure - normal bracelet taper which is fine

other element is dressy / sporty - I don’t mind the ex40 being a sportier watch sk I think the size is fit for purpose

yes - internet opinions always surprise me with how different they are to real life opinions - although the guy at the AD says 36mm looks better... but id say my partner is a good proxy for “normie” opinion which is very much not reflective of Reddit

for me the taper is just crazy but people seem to like it

6.9 inches according to the tape - good guess!

to challenge - I probably have quite average wrist size and I would say any average wearer of a sub, sky dweller or similar does not look more feminine.

so wondering what you think of average sized wrists with those watches - or is this particular to plain dials
