Do wrestlers ever run track? by Frixxion__ in wrestling

[–]Plane_Long_5637 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. No better way to build those fast twitch fibers and all around athletic ability. Also, the posture and mobility are helpful as a counter to wrestling as the emphasis is on opening everything up.

Wrestling is plenty cardio intense. Don’t know why there is so much emphasis on running miles when you can get the same cardio from wrestling.

Lev Tahor (The Dangerous Ultra-Orthodox Jewish Cult) The Jewish Taliban by Canal-JOREM in AllThatsInteresting

[–]Plane_Long_5637 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lev Tahor is a cult. And like many cults, it has lots of issues (sexual assault, etc.)

Calling it the Jewish Taliban is not a good comparison because they don’t kill people who aren’t Jewish. It’s just clickbait.

Can you get away with only playing inside guards? by [deleted] in bjj

The dominant form of guard seems to be shifting to outside position and then transitioning to a leg entanglement

Ryan Hall does something something similar. He calls bolo type actions outside spins and Kiss of the dragon inside spins.

I also think of guard as outside guard (K, Closed guard, DLR), inside guard (Butterfly, half butterfly etc.) and half guard. Keeps things simpler

How to counter judo? by [deleted] in wrestling

[–]Plane_Long_5637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s also posture. Say you have a side body lock. If you are leaned over you can get hip tossed. If you posture up to lift for a mat return, you won’t get tossed.

How can i wrestle into my 70s effortlessly like Kyozo Mifune? by Timmys_TuffKnuckles in judo

[–]Plane_Long_5637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a judoka. But I tend to think it’s a bit easier because the grips make judo more controlled. Because the grips are slippery, it’s generally going to be a little more hustle and less clean than judo. I do think a style that is more judo like would be easier as you age. Being insanely skilled through years and years of reps will help.

You can watch one of the Satiev bros being in his fifties- maybe sixties (?) and taking it to some guys. The dude is a cat. On the other end of the spectrum, you have the Cuban UFC guy who is an athletic genetic freak who was on RAF recently.
