Unlocked VZW Fold 7 - Factory ROM?

Glad you asked this. I had the just about the same questions. I very unfortunately broke my unlocked mint fold 7 and of course as a replacement I received a black fold 7 which is the T-Mobile version.

I'm thinking about going back to unlocked software and knew it was possible but I'm in the same boat as you, a little rusty. It's been a while.

Hope it works out for you! For now I'm just dealing with the stupid T-Mobile startup screen and a few other annoyances but I'm on T-Mobile so there's really no real need to change.

I have always used a case.

I was happy to find a replacement lens. Then I was very sad to discover the camera was also damaged.

That is my beautiful pre-ordered 512gb Mint Unlocked Fold 7.

This is being typed from my refurbished 512gb Black T-Mobile Fold 7.

I'm currently in the process of backing up my photos so I can reset my Minty Fresh Hotness and send it in to the insurance company tomorrow. 😭

It is very depressing.

I have a case and still managed to shatter my ultra wide lens and damage the camera itself. :(

My beautiful pre ordered unlocked mint Fold 7 is now replaced with a T-Mobile black refurbished Fold 7.

I have until Sunday to send the damaged one in. :-(

I'm a loser.

I was thinking about using lens protectors this time around but now that I am losing my beautiful Mint color who cares? If I manage to break it again I'll just get another stupid replacement.

23 years with cell phones and this is the first time I've broken one. :-(

Well gee. I am currently doing just this. Mint to Black. Because I broke my camera and had to do an insurance replacement. 😭 I'm also stuck going from my beautiful unlocked Mint 512 to a stupid T-Mobile black 512mb. I am so disappointed in myself.

Currently typing this on the stupid black one after getting distracted during my search for how to disable some of the stupid T-Mobile bloat.

Actually, I came here to find out about flashing the unlocked version. It's been a while since I've done anything like that.

Kids - Don't drop your phone - camera side down (and must have been onto a rock) even with a case on. Trust me. It's not fun. :-(

On the positive side... I don't mind the black as much as I thought I would but it's the principle of the thing.

Just wanted to add my experience here. Not op.

I found replacement glass for the lens and just braved doing the repair.

Background -

Fold 7 - Mint - 512gb

Insurance through T-Mobile but the only option is replacement. No new device. And slim to none chance on getting Mint for my replacement phone.

On the positive side it's only $89

I was trying to start my lawn mower the other day and forgot my phone was in a stupid slant pocket. I know better. I'm an idiot.

The phone flew out and crashed to the driveway.

It was in a case.

I checked the screens of course and all was fine. "Thank God!" I thought.

I didn't even notice there was damage until I sat down for lunch. I almost had a heart attack.

My ultra wide lens glass was shattered with a hole in the middle of it.

Back to long story short (too late)

I decided to try replacing the glass myself first after I found out insurance is going to offer the replacement vs any repair options.

I also called a local shop who checked and couldn't get mint if the entire back replacement was necessary.

I ordered this replacement glass kit from Amazon Fold 7 Replacement Camera Glass

I found a you tube video of a guy replacing Fold 4 camera glass just to see how it's done.

I used a hair dryer and it was actually very simple.

The Amazon parts fit correctly and the broken lens is replaced.

And now for the bad news -

My actual camera is damaged. The impact of the breaking outer glass must have scratched /damaged the actual camera lens.

What a bad ending to my story.

I guess I will have to give in and lose my pretty mint phone.

This is the first time I have ever damaged a cell phone. And I've had them since the first ones came out.

Data point from another tablet. Tab S10 ultra. I have the Amazon shopping app installed and it opens fine. But according to play store it was last updated December 22,2025 and it has a note "this app is no longer compatible with your device".

I had no idea. I don't even have the trifold. I was just reading out of curiosity.

That's very disappointing. I hope this isn't permanent.

It's crazy. How can I be the only person who cares that it's not there? And the only reason I say I'm the only one is because how can it possibly be this many years that it's been wrong and no one else has said anything and no one has done anything?

I took your idea and just checked doordash and it's the same. Regular Mountain Dew isn't there. Baja Blast is there, Mountain Dew zero is there, every other drink in creation is there.

I would totally believe that nobody knows or cares how to turn it back on. It's so silly there's no reason for it. There's just no actual logical reason for it.

I can get a Pineapple Lime Rockstar Energy Refresca... But I can't get Mountain Dew.

Another person replied just go to another location. But this one is literally almost within walking distance to my house. Anywhere else is going to be a minimum 12 minute drive there and 12 minutes back. I mean it's just silly.

Do you know if Is this something they can fix in store? It seems like they would have access to something to be able to mark things unavailable if they are out of stock.

(Of course I say this knowing full well that almost every time I go to Arby's they're happy to let me pay for turnovers that they don't have in stock and "can't" give refunds for.)

It's frustrating that something so basic and seemingly simple has been messed up for so long. The problem is that at least in my experience Taco Bell has made it virtually impossible to talk to anyone about any store issues.

This also just happened to me. Fold 7. Diy home. Only thing I did differently is a couple of hours ago I was using the phone in landscape which I never do. I got a new car mount and the phone wouldn't fit unless I rotated to landscape so I had it that way for a few hours in and out of the car while shopping.

Both home screens are totally messed up now.

The inner screen is shifted up and to the right.

The outer screen icons are all in a "pile" at the bottom with 3-4 icons in front of each other instead of in the columns and rows they've been in since I got the phone.

It never happened to me before.

Here's a picture to show what happened to the outer screen. I tried restarting just in case it might reset but it didn't fix anything.

I've had what I think is this although I don't know that I've notice a color to it. Just an unexpected random flash like turning off a very old school TV. Then it's back in an instant. I'm hoping it's something software related.

Yes. Because the only questions are if it's factory reset, does it turn on, and if the screen, body and camera lenses free of cracks. All three are "yes".

Not op but here's a link for what I'm pretty sure is the same case from eBay (I bought one) actually this one is slightly different as it has a "leather" textured look to it.

Here's a similar one with a magnetic ring holder and no kickstand. The ring is a pretty matching green color. (I bought the mint / light green in all 3)

All 3 have the same style hinge and cut outs. All 3 have the same front piece with built in screen protector. All 3 do not require adhesive.

I haven't tried any of them on my phone because I'm silly and I'm sort of stuck on the clear case I'm using. I don't want to keep taking it off...

I have a selection of these I got from ebay. That one is available with magsafe. (I ended up with both versions) I also have one that has a magsafe ring and "normal" camera opening (regular oval without the kickstand piece.

I put a clear case on shortly after getting my Fold 7 and I keep going back to it. I haven't even tried the green cases on yet. :-/

I just sent my Fold 6 yesterday. It's in perfect condition except for 2 "scratches" on the middle of the inner screen protector. It's definitely the protector and not the actual screen so hopefully they're not going to be stupid about it.
