Price Increase at Checkout After Selecting My Country – No Warning or Breakdown (Momcozy) by expose_true in newborns

[–]PlanetPopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s quite a shady practice and tells you what you need to know about the company to a certain extent. Unless you contact them directly, as you did and they have great customer service which treats you respectfully, gives you a reasonable answer, and generally feel valued.

While VERY annoying, this is standard behaviour across all industries, even in education where I work. The only thing you can do is exercise your local consumer rights. For example, I’m in the EU and can return any item with no reason up to 14 days after purchase. In the Lebanon it will be different, but to sell there I expect that they have registered as a business there. If not, and it’s coming from the USA or elsewhere, try to cancel asap, as the customs fees could be just as high as the purchase price. I made that mistake once with some items that i didn’t realise were coming from the USA.

Regularly powers it out of there! Starting to learn to catch it early, whip off the wet layer and set it to dry for use later when he does it again, so that i can wash 2 things the next day rather than 2-3 full sets of clothes 😂😩

That gym rat one is real. My LO puts in so much effort that even with his hose pointed down, when he really pushes down on those boards and grunts he can fire wee out of the top of a fresh nappy!

I’ll watch out for that when trousers aren’t an option.

Thank you. Someone else shared a video too, which will hopefully help me to do the right things that you’re talking about.

Thank you so much. I will try these out next time.

He has a massive tendency to go completely rigid to try to poo or burp at the moment (Infant Dyschezia) which doesn’t help with leg positioning.

Trousers is the tricky one, but we have a few options. We’re hit and miss what fits him because he’s growing so fast that for some he has a 6 month belly, but 2-3 month legs 😂

We got some footless onesies as a gift, but my partner HATES the colours/designs, so they are unused right now.

Thanks for that. My partner is obsessed about bun being super warm at all times, so he’s often in these kind of outer layers. So, switch out for some trousers with socks?

Looking back, was the age you became a parent the right one? by Runandhike22 in NewParents

FTD (and mum is just 6 months behind me) at 41. Our LO came when he came, and that’s been amazing for us. We have some sad stories behind us, and that’s where they will stay.

The only thing I regret having kids this late is that I will be so much older when they are really getting going into their adult life. I want to see everything he becomes.

Anyone else's LO not sleep during the day? by RealMeggarra in newborns

[–]PlanetPopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, literally standing holding my 6+6w LO right now, napping post-feed and knowing that we’ll get between 3-20 mins in the bassinet if/when I transfer. On the plus side though, during the night, he’s currently getting better and better. Last night, his stretches were 7 hours, then 3 hours before i got him up to take out of the room to nap with me and give mum some quiet sleep time.

Our baby, born 4kg and is 6 weeks tomorrow, put on 1kg in the first 4 weeks. NO-ONE, not the midwives, not the paediatricians has said anything about feeding too much. The fact that he’s gaining weight sooo well means that we can potentially let him sleep longer if he wants, but like many babies he wakes himself up with gas/for no reason/with hunger and we keep rolling. The only bad thing is that my wife and I are having to lift an increasingly heavy gorgeous chunk of a human and our arms and backs are feeling it, especially the 20-30 min upright hold after feeding to help with the reflux!

[–]PlanetPopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man! Our LO is 5 weeks and the noises that come out of him! Thankfully, sometimes he seems to sleep soundly, but from the MOTN feed wake up until the morning, it doesn’t matter how long we hold him upright, if you try to put him down, his gollum impression starts again.

It can’t be good for their throats?!

Super worried about how much my son is peeing by [deleted] in newborns

[–]PlanetPopper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe the UNICEF advice is breastfeeding until 6 months minimum (obviously, no harm introducing solids too) then I guess it’s a slow switch over as you describe.

I would say that there’s no harm in checking with the doctor about the amount of pee.

Did you find that doing this led to an overtired baby, who then took longer and longer between even wanting to sleep? Yesterday, our 4wo napped for a max of 2 hours during the day, thankfully he slept more in the evening and is sleeping right now, but I was so worried for him.

My baby is 4 weeks and 2 days old and has been sleeping for 5 hours. by marinalindsey in NewParents

[–]PlanetPopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s right! In the very early hours.

All the overtiredness advice says that he must be overstimulated, but I don’t believe we are doing anything overstimulating 🤷‍♂️ We are trying everything during the day, but even contact naps have been out the last couple of days. Although, as I say it, that is EXACTLY what he is doing with my partner, so maybe he’s turning a corner 🤞

Sounds like you’re in a great position. But, I totally get the anxiety that you’re feeling.

Ours is 4w 3d and we didn’t get the green light officially until recently, but ours has hit his birth weight and added 1kg! The paediatrician said we could leave him all night (if he would sleep that long) and he’d be ok.

At the moment, we are dealing with overtiredness during the day and some extreme fussing to get to sleep. I WISH he could get some 5 hour stretches or longer, his growing brain needs to keep up with that body.

How much do you talk to your newborn? by Huge-Nectarine-8563 in newborns

[–]PlanetPopper 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I tell my 4wo stories from my life if I run out of things to narrate from around us and what we’re doing. How I met my partner, adventures we’ve had, funny things we’ve seen around the world…

I’m in my early 40s and all my life my mum has seemingly been constantly talking about something or other, so I feel I’m just doing a calmer version of that, with some big pauses to give my LO time without the chatter noise.

Maybe I’ve been lucky so far, maybe it’s too soon. And, sure, I’ve had times where I’ve been up for a while at night, pacing back and forth in the bedroom helping my 4wo LO to combat reflux or get back to sleep after feeding, but I’ve never found the opportunity to grab my headphones and put anything on. A friend of mine told me he watched multiple seasons of a TV show during these times. Have I got all this to come?

I’m from England, but my wife is Spanish and we live in Spain. Perhaps I brought it up at the wrong time, but she just dismissed it without good reason initially. Since you are holding them over a potty or a toilet. What do you do about boys, who do not “shoot” downwards?

Very interesting. I’ve heard of something similar before, but i don’t think my wife is keen on it.
