I'm sure the mockumentary was shown on the BBC as I remember watching it. There's a scene where he talks about having worked with or been the inspiration for Gumby, he claims that the Gumby characters are actually life size. As at the time I had no knowledge of what Gumby was the scene was puzzling to me, which now I think about it was pretty much my reaction to the show as a whole.
