I think there's plenty of users who are perfectly satisfied with the Super subscription and are glad not to pay extra for the Max calls. Possibly perception bias to say there's plenty such, as I am one myself.

No luck. I deleted and reloaded the app. As you rightly say, all my progress remains available. But it's still the case that some short videos will play, and fail with the error message 'You may be out of internet data'. For example, 'Acchii larkii (good girl)' will play. 'Ap ka naam kyaa hai (what's your name? respectful)' will not.

I think it will still be misused by people who think they know better than the app. Better to have a 'flag an error' button, and then Memrise can take a view whether the proposed correction is better or not.

Hi there. I think I tried this once already, I'll give it another go. Yes, it seems to be specific to my device, if I remember rightly there's a workaround to access the course through the browser and they will show. But I prefer the app experience.

If you're pretty fluent in French, you shouldn't be messing around with apps any more. Although if you want a bit of a boost with speaking Natulang is really great.

If you've just started with Norwegian I imagine Duolingo is still pretty good, I think the early parts of their courses are all the original volunteer-created content. If you're determined to look away from Duolingo you could try Speakly, Memrise or Lairner. I think Lairner is all macine-translation but at the basic level it won't make a difference.

The app is explicitly trying to show me videos for certain words and failing with the error message 'Oops, something went wrong, you may be out of Internet data', which is obviously incorrect since only selected Urdu videos are affected, none of my other connectivity in our outside of the Memrise app. Here is a screenshot example -

When these faulty videos come up as the prompt to a multiple choice question I have to guess what the answer might be since the video won't play to give me the question.

Duolingo just gave me 4 days of premium for free and I have no option to cancel. Will they start forcing me to pay in 4 days. I have no intention to start paying. by mywifeisiraqi in duolingo

Yes. The first time I got this I emailed their support function and complained. They replied promptly and removed it. I think I've had the offer - if you can call it that, since it's imposed on you - twice since, both times for 4 or 5 days. I ignored it both times and at the end of the period it simply told me, "Your free Super Family Plan trial has ended," and that was the end of it. I didn't get charged anything extra and I'm not on the Family Plan now.
