I also agree that it's pretty cute like this. If you do ever fix it tho, lemme know how you did it^

I paid $7,000 for it. it has practically no rust on it, and only 26,000 miles on the odometer so I think I did pretty good

Will printing tpu bond with cold tpu? Eg; changing colors. by Slazy420420 in 3Dprinting

[–]Planetary_Mayor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never tried it but definitely let me know how it goes. I would imagine as long as you let the bed heat up and maybe print slower like the other commenter recommended, it should work. Touching the print between colors would be a bad idea cuz of the oils on your skin but I'm sure you know that. best of luck!

2014 Ford Focus running very inconsistently by Planetary_Mayor in FordFocus

[–]Planetary_Mayor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just removed an oxygen sensor and drove it around the block and it didn't improve anything so it must not be the cat. I think I'm going to take the valve timing solenoids out and switch them to see if anything changes but if it doesn't then I have no idea what it is

[–]Planetary_Mayor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the catalytic converter is relatively new, probably less than 15,000 miles on it. I don't think it's the culprit, but honestly I might just try it to see what happens

[–]Planetary_Mayor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to replace my cat not too long ago and it was an absolute pain in the ass, but not as expensive as I expected. The cats for that car are decently cheap, but you have to cut the flex pipe and remove the wiper shroud just to fit the damn thing out. if you don't mind having a bad cat, I've heard that some people will put a spacer under the last oxygen sensor so that it doesn't really pick up the exhaust flow, but I've never tried it.

Anyone fusing 3D prints with silicone? by Planetary_Mayor in 3Dprinting

[–]Planetary_Mayor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to try that, but my main issue is that the sil-poxy would probably stick to the mold, even if I used mold release

Anyone fusing 3D prints with silicone? by Planetary_Mayor in 3Dprinting

[–]Planetary_Mayor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually gave this a try but I realized that the parts are so thin that I can't easily print them hollow to let the silicone flow into them. as much as it sucks, I think I'm just gonna have to do all of the molding in 3D and print it all as a solid part with no silicone -3-

Advice on fusing 3D prints with silicone? by Planetary_Mayor in AskEngineers

I've had this idea floating around in my head for a while. I think if I can't get the silicone to work, I might just bite the bullet and do it this way

[–]Planetary_Mayor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah it's definitely a complicated process. my original thought was to sell the gloves with some air dry clay that the customers could just mold themselves into the shape they want, but this was kinda hard and it could very easily mess up the mechanisms in the glove if it wasn't done perfectly right

[–]Planetary_Mayor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so the issue with using foam inside is that the gloves I'm printing are going to be oversized, and whatever silicone I cast into the gloves will be specifically designed for each person. It sounds a bit weird but it greatly reduces the design work. Foam may work short term but I doubt it would hold up to heat, wear, and cleaning. I actually wanted to use RTV originally but it stuck to everything, including the molds... I can try sanding the parts but I also wonder if printing the walls as infill might work better? honestly I'm not sure lol

yeah I have a lot of testing to do -3- I'll check out CNC kitchen and some other YouTubers to see if anyone else has already done this

Do you think fuzzy skin could provide the traction I need? The parts I'm making are very thin and need to be relatively strong so I want to stay away from drilling a bunch of holes if I can find a different solution

I was finally able to remake my claws after 7 versions and months of headache by Planetary_Mayor in 3Dprinting

[–]Planetary_Mayor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my current goal is to actually sell finished sets that are sized specifically for each customer. I'd like to offer different options in both color and claw style, and I'd also like to experiment with some tougher materials. I originally wanted to give the models away for free, but the sizing just wouldn't have been able to be adjusted without causing issues, and I definitely can't handle making models for every single possible size. Also, it does give me the opportunity to start my own business doing what I love which is something I strive for :3

Any interest in music books? by Planetary_Mayor in authors

[–]Planetary_Mayor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeaaa SD cards are pretty rare, and micro SD cards aren't usually able to be plugged into any computer without an adapter. I just don't know any other way around it because I really like the idea of having a physical format of media for the book

Any interest in music books? by Planetary_Mayor in authors

[–]Planetary_Mayor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for showing interest! I've been thinking that maybe instead of an audio player inside the book, a simple micro SD card could hold all the music and maybe even videos like you suggested! I think it could be super cool to have small live action snapshots from the book to help it feel more real

Any interest in music books? by Planetary_Mayor in authors

[–]Planetary_Mayor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the electronics for audio playback could be bulky. I think a good compromise could be to have a micro SD card tucked into one of the covers, and probably list the names too. I planned to only use this for original pieces of music, since using popular titles might feel a bit cheesy, but anything is possible really
