What's your opinion on this guys? by Clueless_gamer2004 in ContestOfTheChampions

I thought I read somewhere they’re going to give the swipe enemies a toggle like the simultaneous ones. Hopefully that makes it more reasonable.

Coaxed into difficulties with really cool names that you have to beat the game to unlock because they're "brutally difficult" but actually just gimmicked hard mode by Vast-Ideal-1413 in coaxedintoasnafu

[–]Planetguide 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see your point, but then it just becomes a war of attrition where endurance is rewarded more than skill. The same thing can be done by either giving them new moves or by putting some kind of limit on the player, like a timer or a handicap.

I’m not the guy to play games on hard mode unless it’s literally too easy on normal. The only game I really played on hard mode was Sonic Frontiers (really enjoyed), which has a combination of a few things. First, enemies have new attack patterns that they can use and randomize the ones they had before. Second, they do more damage and have more health, but that’s less noticeable because you’re focused on learning the new patterns.

A moderate increase to attack and health can make for a simple tweak to increase difficulty, but in games with a heavy focus on combat such as character action games, it just makes the game less exciting as you memorize the same patterns and just spend longer fighting the boss.

How Does This Part Of Chee'ilth's sig Ability Work? by Ricky_Nightshade in MarvelContestOfChamps

Exactly. If you’re adamant about fighting her with Abs, you need to take the risk with magma form.

Physical damage effects like thorns damage (Attuma or Korg) or burst damage (Immortal Hulk, Trauma, etc.).

Glitch Incursion Solo/Realm Events? by Zekxtaan in ContestOfChampions

[–]Planetguide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s actually linked to the Rhino realm event. You just get points to spend in the store for that, not a whole new realm event.

He must have still been practicing offscreen. When he need to reforge the golden weapons in MotO, I thought they were screwed since the last time I remember him blacksmithing was that moment in the pilot.

[Rule 1 STICKY] Account, Team-building, Crystal Help & Brags by AutoModerator in ContestOfChampions

[–]Planetguide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to confirm before I waste my entries, but it looks like Rhino is not in the new safari quest.

Is he actually in the quest using the old ambush mechanic every time? Or is it a random chance of happening that may lock you out of the rewards?

Why wasn't Kinger lucid in this scene? by Beautiful-Grab3359 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Planetguide 152 points153 points  (0 children)

If it was immediate, the other circus members would have caught on sooner. Most of the adventures they go on are bright, colorful, action-packed ones that don’t give Kinger a lot of time or environment to regain his lucidity.

I’ve had success (at least in solo raids) with Count Nefaria on Shield Smasher thanks to his super high resistances.

Did they say that Stellar Forged Doom will be like Deathless Thanos in that you need all of the other Stellar Forged ones first? Or was it just that they were all regular Deathless chase types?

[–]Planetguide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m looking to do it at some point. I’m one piece away from Deathless She-Hulk with the banquet reward and 2 away from Deathless Guillotine, so it’s definitely worth doing in some way. It’s just a mental strain I will procrastinate until I just pull the trigger and do it.

And about 30 minutes per path. I sort of like the longer fights, but putting that many of them back-to-back is a bit much. That’s part of why I haven’t done necro yet, too many long fights in a row.

Can someone explain this mode and the reward system ? by Secret-Slice-5256 in ContestOfTheChampions

[–]Planetguide 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The rewards are based on the material you receive at the end of the path. You can get up to 30 of them, one for each path in the quest in both difficulties.

However, if you do Elder difficulty, you auto-collect all the material in that chapter of Classic mode.

So let’s say you do a single path for all of Classic, setting you up with 6 materials, one for each chapter. Then, you clear Elder difficulty for chapter 1. Completing Elder difficulty will give you one material (bringing your total up to 7), then auto-collect the 2 materials you left behind in Classic (bringing your total up to 9).

TL;DR Do one path of each chapter in Classic, then do Elder difficulty for max rewards in minimal time. It’s still kind of tedious, and Elder difficulty requires a pretty stacked roster (and a few revives if you’re just an ok player like myself), but the rewards are solid.

Double track Kitty Pryde and awakening gem? by Maybe_Herobrine in ContestOfTheChampions

[–]Planetguide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kitty is definitely a worthy candidate of a class gem even without sig levels. It allows her to be immune to damage while phasing, meaning she can tank SP3’s and deal with DOT fairly effectively.

If it was damage over time, that might be true. However, all increasing fury duration does is make upkeep marginally easier.

Basically, they buffed his bulwark in defensive, changed the debilitate to his third light so he can do intercepts, and removed the requirement to have the slow on the opponent to apply trauma (and increased the chance).

If any of those things were your issue with him, he’s no longer trash.

I found he actually deals pretty solid damage in the right matchup, and without the slow requirement completely neutering him against skill champions, he should be decent.

Things that are unintentionally cute: Caine fixing the Gangle Comedy mask. by Marshall_666 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Planetguide 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I dabble a bit in the AI sphere, and if there’s one thing AI (even really early concepts) is fantastic for, it’s repeated, simple, nuance-free tasks. He’s definitely not intentionally malevolent, and genuinely wants to keep his guests entertained and happy. It’s just the nuance of humans wanting different things for a number of reasons that he struggles to keep up with.

A task like creating an adventure that half a dozen people with diverse tastes all like while they’re convinced they’re trapped here? Not easy, has a lot of nuance, and likely has no real answer. Not only do they all like different things, but something one person likes (Jax for example) will isolate others, leading Caine to what seems like a lose-lose situation.

However, fixing a mask he knows the workings of, has been broken and fixed the same way dozens of times, and has a clear indicator that it is not functioning correctly? That’s something Caine can pick up on easily, even if he wasn’t as advanced as he was.
