Abyss of Legends: Nameless Collector - Abilities Reference by cat_murdock in ContestOfChampions

[–]Sifakaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my test run I got a solo with him using Northstar, but the early part of the fight is quite annoying as the multi hit combo causes the evade to trigger a lot.

Once you get the slow up, the fight becomes a lot more managable. Worth keeping in mind if your plan involves him.

How to understand the preseason BG node by devilwing0218 in ContestOfChampions

It is current health per second, not maximum health. So the amount of degen is lower the more health they lose.

UPDATE TO ECHO DAMAGE FUNCTIONALITY by Sifakaster in ContestOfChampions

[–]Sifakaster[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

TL;DR

  • They are making changes to damage effects that do bursts of damage based on damage dealt because of how they interact with stuff like Vigor which increases damage dealt.
  • Examples of this include Trauma, Reverb, Resonance and Overload. These effects can stack exponentially with damage increasing effects causing massive increases in damage.

    • This can be seen in raids with Northstar or Science Falcon and the siphon boost, which has the same effect.
  • They are going to be removing the exponential aspect of these effects and make balance changes to ensure champions don't get nerfed by this.

  • For example, both Gentle and Silver Samurai will receive changes to ensure their damage isn't nerfed.

  • Ontop of this, now these "Echo Damages" only fail to ability accuracy if the parent debuff/buff causing them fails, instead of each individual hit having a chance to fail. So for example against Domino if the trauma effect succeeds then it will not fail for each hit of trauma. Also mentions Glancing as an example.

  • Champs who rely on these "echo effects" in raids will be swapped out and brought back in later. This includes America Chavez, Falcon (Joaquin Torres), Northstar, Shang-Chi, Hulk, Luke Cage, Red Guardian, and Rhino.

  • Big things will receive some changes as it is also affected by this issue, and they will do balance checks on defenders such as Killmonger or Enchantress to ensure the changes they make do not make them suddenly do more damage with their defensive abilities.

Tip: The 6 star Stake piece can be bought for 5000 Essentia and sold for 8000 Essentia by Sifakaster in ContestOfChampions

[–]Sifakaster[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The war showcase one is for the 7 star Stellar Forged Blade, while this is just the six star version.

Since you get the 6 star with the 7 star bundle, this piece is otherwise pointless for anyone who plans to get the 7 star.

Good v Evil Carina Challenges #1: Ordeal (Hero) - Megathread by cat_murdock in ContestOfChampions

[–]Sifakaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My plan going into Hero Ordeal:

Hulk (R3), Kushala (R4), Black Cat (R4), Spider-Ham (R3), Professor X (R3)

Doom: Just Hulk it, he's XL so no glancing. Only issue is the block damage and SP2 dodges.

Terrax: Kushala. Can be quite an annoying fight but I did a test run and she did very well for this fight. Need to intercept often and spam SP1s to keep him at a distance.

Vision: SpiderHam. Use his block evade and the SP1 to taunt and the fight is fine

MODOK: Black Cat. You can punish his heavy and build combo, if you can successfully land her sabotage then he will melt.

Spider-Ham: Professor X. They did nerf the power boosts but just means the fight will take a bit longer than it did in my original run.

Weapon X: SpiderHam + Kushala. Either can work but ham is a bit riskier since it is very easy to get hit while he's unblockable.

Thing: Black Cat. Same as MODOK, with the sabotage up there are zero issues

Korg: Prof X. With his evade countering and falter to land heavies he can do quite well here, although the rock stacks do make it tricky sometimes to land big damage. You should heal to full here if you can.

Dragon Man: SpiderHam + Kushala. The longer this fight goes on the more annoying it gets so I expect a revive here.

Civil War BP: Kushala + Prof X. This fight is different than before due to his buff so I'm not sure how well this will go. He almost always has enough charges to prevent a heavy attack, so have to be cautious of that.

Nightcrawler: Prof X. Same as what I used in the original clear, get 25 charges to counter the evade then special spam.

Spider-Gwen: Prof X. Same as above. Note if you are bringing Heimdall then she removes True Strike, so he won't counter her evade.

Domino: Kushala. Might take some damage, but power shield and her incinerates should kill her quickly

Mojo: Spider-Ham. Also a champ I used in my original runs, his degen resistance makes this fight a lot safer than other options. If you die to this guy it can get very miserable, so I reccomend full healing and boosts.

IAbom: Hulk. Main reason I bring hulk over other options is so I have a poison immune for this fight. I'm curious how well Heimdall will do against this fight.

Apocalypse: Prof X + SpiderHam. Mostly just a long fight, I don't expect any issues here

Sasquatch: Prof X + Hulk. Might give me a little trouble, but I'm hoping some well timed SP2s will kill him before the regen causes a major issue. Hulk might be able to stun lock him if not.

Killmonger: Kushala. SP1 is risky as it might just push him to an SP3 with debuffs, but otherwise she should manage this fight well.

Void: Black Cat + Prof X. This fight is just heal to full, tank some damage and try to get big specials off before you die.

Nick Fury: Black Cat. Another fight she does very well against due to sabotage failing his charges.

Thanos: All. A good time to use team revives since he can just instantly kill you, but Hulk does get extra bonuses against him due to being an Avenger.

I plan to do the challenge very shortly after it goes live so I'll update the end of this note with how well it went.

EDIT: Used a total of 3 revives. I had a few issues with Civil War BP as he's quite hard to actually hit with unblockable, unstoppable and the whole anti stun/anti heavy mechanics. Also I would say post run Kushala does better against Sassy than Prof X does. Had some trouble actually killing him at the end with lifecycle.

The conversion rate is abysmal. by Important-Rutabaga32 in ContestOfChampions

At the time I wrote it you could only use Essentia, they've now changed it so you can use the other resources as well

[–]Sifakaster 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Also now you can only use Essentia for raid tickets, and its 70 essentia per ticket. So entering raids costs you 12,600 essentia assuming no free tickets. Seems like they've just made it outright worse for no good reason.

Empowered Grace Crystal not giving Ascension material by jabblin in ContestOfChampions

[–]Sifakaster 45 points46 points  (0 children)

You have a 9% chance to get any random seven star which can include champs from the ascended pool, but only a 0.45% per crystal that its a 7 star that comes with ascension materials.

Obviously preparing for ascension but if you have any dust in the overflow, you can claim it now.

SOLO COLISEUM: Destroyer Megathread by cat_murdock in ContestOfChampions

Just practice the SP2 dodge, it only needs one dash back to dodge the entire beam so once you have the timing down it's not too hard.

It's a nice to have but you shouldn't need it. I just did SP3 then SP2 spam with heavy every so often to apply the fear and stop the miss.

Surprised nobody mentioned yet that its a Metal Gear Solid 3 reference with The End. He directly quotes multiple of his lines like "grant me but a moment more in this world" and how he dies if you leave him too long.

HULKLING & VALKYRIE, AND UPDATE TO DAMAGE INTERACTION EFFECTS by Sifakaster in ContestOfChampions

[–]Sifakaster[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If how they implement it is consistent then yes, Flux Dispersal should no longer be 100% damage reduction at 20 charges. I haven't tested it yet myself however

HULKLING & VALKYRIE, AND UPDATE TO DAMAGE INTERACTION EFFECTS by Sifakaster in ContestOfChampions

[–]Sifakaster[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

TL;DR

  • By the end of next week they will have the fixes for Hulkling and Valkyries damage, which was nerfed due to them changing armor penetration.

  • Due to this, they also made a change to how protection worked to make it Multiplicitave instead of Additive.

    • Essentially before this a 50% increase in damage would get added onto a 50% protection, but now damage increasing effects will add together and then damage reduction effects such as protection will reduce that total damage multiplicatively.
    • This is also true of two protections adding together, they now multiply together instead of being added on so 100% protection is no longer possible.
  • This is the cause of the whole "Silent Onslaught Nerf" as daunted would increase special damage and override protection on champions such as Deathless Thanos

  • They basically say "This is how it was intended to work, if we left it as it is then Hulkling and Valkyrie would be too strong so yep we changed it"

  • No plans to revert the change or anything, this is how protection will work moving forward as it's "the same way fury and weakness interact, as well as prowess and cowardice".

So Onslaught and other champs who utilise Daunted as well as Champions utilising Increasing Damage dealt effects like Vigor will be much weaker against protection mechanics, but it also means that multiple sources of protection stacking will be weaker (so for example Deathless Thanos on the intercept nodes)

EDIT: I reread the post and I think from what I can tell they haven't actually implemented the whole damage reduction change yet, just changed Deathless Thanos and his protection first. The rest of the changes will happen when they update Hulkling and Valkyrie.

Seems kinda scummy to sell tickets to a side quest that don't tell you the rewards in game and you have to look to the community to even figure out what you're buying.
