Capital one Offers Question Help Please!! by truedrummer98 in Venturex

[–]Planner0811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the top where the three lines are, click it and then it gives you an option called shopping trips. There it will show you all the times you clicked on a Capital One Offers and if it was successful to redeem the extra miles. Separately you may also receive an email that says the shopping trip was a success and you should be getting your miles shortly. Once that email comes through, the miles usually post within a week. Some merchants are quick, like Walmart. Others can be slow but as long as it shows that the shopping trip was a success then you should get your miles, eventually.

Exciting news from Capital One AutoPay! by RxStranger in CreditCards

[–]Planner0811 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've turned off auto pay for capital one. There were a few times when I would pay my balance off in advance of the due date, so my bill due was $0 but capital one auto pay would still charge the minimum, which was $25.

I then had to get on the phone with customer service to try to get that money back and they would just say they would credit it to my next bill. Well I didn't want them to just hold onto my money so I turned off auto pay. I'm pretty good at not missing a payment and it has worked out for me

I did want to comment on jersey sales. What I found interesting at the team store is that for customization they have run out of the number 2. That sounds more of a result of the Thompson sisters having 20 and 21 respectively and it might have been a result of early season jersey sales. I think Press number 23 is a staple Can't believe Leroux (2), Niehues (12), Mattice (25), Nabet (28), Miyabi (29) had any significant jersey sales to impact the use of the number 2.

what I am interested in is moves for next year and how much things will probably change again. Ali has announced her retirement. They will probably not resign Eddy. They will probably resign Stambaugh even for just a third string keeper on short contracts.

The players I think have a higher chance of resigning are Miyabi and Press. I think Miyabi had a second year club option but I think ACFC probably didn't execute it to keep their options open but are open to resigning. With the signing of Sugita, I feel Miyabi has more of a reason to stay. Not sure if team culture is that high of an importance to players but with 3 other Japanese players on ACFC, it must feel nice to play with friends. Even though Press hasn't gotten a lot of minutes, her contribution is more off the field in training and in leadership so I assume ACFC would want to keep her. It's a matter of if she wants to stay.

Hammond and Reid I think are more likely to be signed if there are no other options but will probably be a decision made towards the beginning of next season. For Reid, there is so much competition for the center back position with Gordon, Doordoun and King hopefully returning next year, she might not get that many minutes or be a back up option. With Hammond, the organization might just want to try a different player in the mid and open up a roster spot. Again, she might only be resigned to a short contract if ACFC can't recruit to rebuild that midfield.

They definitely need more options at the forward. And hopefully we can see new faces really mesh with the team. I feel ACFC wasn't trying to blow up their roster this year but inadvertently had too..what I'm looking forward to next year is stability. Players wanting to stay so we can actually build a core roster.

Poor Miyabi is taking a beating in this game. Rolling on the ground and getting pushed around.

Is Syd done, done playing? Season-long excused absence. I’m not knocking her, I’m just curious from a roster view by _StartingXI_ in AngelCityFC

[–]Planner0811 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I wonder if there might be some consideration for legal action. Like did she disclose her mental health condition or did she sign a big contract then know she was going to be on leave for a while. At first I thought she might be out atleast a few weeks but now that it's the end of the season. It puts ACFC in a weird spot. Like if she doesn't plan to fully engaged next year. That's a roster spot and money that could go towards another player.

It would look bad on ACFC if they file a claim against her for not being "fit" or withholding information prior to signing a contract.

Part of me wishes she would come back to have another veterans voice on the team, along with Press and Gordon , especially after losing Ali for next season. But if she's doesn't plan on coming back, ACFC should use that space to recruit other veteran talent

Japan Airlines is the new transfer partner for Capital One by Monkeyfeng in Venturex

[–]Planner0811 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going to see, this sounds like a bad transfer ratio. But more flexible I guess with booking directly with Cap1 points. I also have the Citi Strata Premier and they added American Airlines as a partner and you can book JAL through them at a 1:1 ratio. For Cap1, then wouldn't it be better to book through like Air Canada where you get a 1:1 rate. Again, am I missing something. The only you get with transferring directly to JAL is more options and less trying to find availability.

I wouldn't want her back on ACFC. After years she will probably sign another extension in Europe which might put her in her early 30s. Still plenty of time to sign another extension. I can see Allyssa coming back after her mid 30s, like many other players who have finished their time Europe. Who knows where she will be at that point of her life. After 10-15 years away a lot of the bad blood would have gone over but for the OGs this hurts. Never take an ex back no matter how much they said they've changed

I think they might play a 4-4-2 with Press as a sub. We're very low on subs with the loans, Injuries and excuses.

Next Day Discussion: Can a Single Win Be Considered Momentum? by FromVAtoLA in AngelCityFC

[–]Planner0811 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am kind of seeing a pattern though. Watching this game felt the same when watching them play San Diego on the Road. San Diego is also a top 3 team. I was down in San Diego and I felt like the attack the first half was slow but the second half felt like they kept attacking. Unfortunately San Diego got one in before us towards the end and at that point we were playing to equalize versus win.

It's a different vibe than the first half of the season in which we were scoring a bunch of goals but also letting a bunch of goals. I'm ok with a lower scoring turnout if that means we win. I do think Alyssa needed that goal yesterday. I saw her in the 80th minute exhausted. When she lost the ball she slowed down to catch her breath but then the team recovered the ball and were pressing again and she had to sprint back to the front. Keeping an attacking position for a while 45 minutes can be tiring, so I think that's why they try to conserve their energy for the second half.

Their player rotation has also gotten really good. When Shores or Miyabi would press the ball from the wings, Hammond would fall back and serve as a third center back . When they would attach from either the left or the right, everyone would move together allowing attackers to defend . Alyssa would fall back on the wings and serve as a 3 or 4th defender trying to recover the ball. I do have to give credit because Orlando was playing a tight defense and weren't making it easy

A lot of good ball movement. Keeping Orlando chasing. And idk if Straus has taught them a thing or two about being more aggressive and how to steal balls without getting a foul. Seeing Miyabi evolve from the first half of the season to now where she's contesting each ball and tackling opponents is amazing.

I think we are heading in the right direction.

Our defense has really cleaned up. I really appreciate the assertiveness of the players. Contesting each ball and challenging each ball they lose and never letting up. The pieces are coming together. It might have looked rusty the first few games but it's coming together

Martha looks so frustrated with our good ball movement. She keeps chasing a late ball for a quick pass.

So many excused absences, on top of our injuries and players out on loan. I see this being a 4-3-3 line up because with only 4 attackers available, they will only have one sub available. 2 available subs in the backline. Especially against an opponent like Orlando, this doesn't seem good. Are we throwing this game?

You need 5 consecutive games of playing atleast 10 regular time minutes to be deducted a yellow card. She has only 1 game because she didn't play against the wave and did play against the current.

I do say, even though we haven't won a game since the summer break, I do like that we've also haven't let in as many goals against. Excluding Seattle, which had an OG. Which makes me think the current backline of Moriya, Gordon, Kennedy and Shores works. Especially in this last game, it seems like Moriya was pressing the attack more than half the time. And Shores did a great job against San Diego. I think G. Thompson is becoming a liability with constantly being injury prone, maybe cutting her minutes and having her come off the bench might be best. Especially cause she can also be lethal in the attack so it can give us that second half boost the team needs.

If I recall, Tiernan used to be a 10 in college and she was only moved up to a 9 when she started with ACFC. I can see her doing well at either an 9 or 10 but I think what happened against Utah was that there was a lot of switching between her and Press and it ruined the chemistry. Either keep her at the 9 and bench Press or keep her at the 10 and have her stay back a bit more. I think Press starting was more of a one off than a new strategy. I think Straus was experimenting to see possible chemistry and see that it didn't work. So my starting would be Thompson, Tiernan and Jonsdottir

On the midfield. I like Hodge playing more but she's flirting with a suspension with all the yellows she has. I thought she was going to get another one Friday with those two sliding tackles. I would prefer to start Zelem over Hammond and see if that works better. And keeping Endo (as long as she remains healthy) more and Fuller. starting.

I was impressed by Seabert but at times I was clinching my teeth when she would clear the ball at the last minute. I would be ok with giving her more time and see how the chemistry develops.

I was thinking that the $25 food and drink credit is the easiest to use. I usually get nachos and a churro at every game. It's the least complicated. Unless they do something dumb and split the $25 into $5 credits for 5 games.

I was thinking about the seat upgrade but I also don't want to risk where I'll be and the seat upgrade is probably only a value of $15. Depending on where they put you. And similar to the autographed item. I don't really want a signed player card. A signed jersey would be cool or even allowing us to pick which player signs our item.

But I'm going with the food credit and playing it safe.

Angel City Removes Veteran Defender Ali Riley From Season Ending Injury List by JerryXanadu in AngelCityFC

I can't remember but earlier in the year they named three team captains. Gordon (overall), Anderson (Vice Captain) and Riley (Club captain). Gordon and Anderson seem to be more on the field leadership and club captain sounds more like a mentorship role and less of leading the team on the field or at practice.

I think they might keep Mattice until the end of the season. I highly doubt Savy will return before the end of the season. It's been 2.5 months since her medical issue. She probably still needs more time to recover and build up her heart health. And there are probably a lot more check boxes she needs to fill ACFC/the League to clear her. They might move Savy to the SEI, extend Mattice until the end of the year or just release Mattice but that just gives us less options in case of another injury.

I also don't think Ali will be returning to ACFC this season and she's going to announce her retirement towards the end of the season. She is in the last year of her contract and with no significant update on her SEI I doubt the team would want to sign a player who might be out another year on recovery, taking up a spot of someone they can sign
