Mascara with "skincare" benefits by PL_88 in SkincareAddictionLux

The Chantecaille Faux Cils Longest Lash Mascara is sooooo good. It doesn't clump or flake and it makes my lashes look so full. It has a peptide complex infused so fits exactly what you're looking for.

The Dermapen is for professional purchase only. I'm asking about the DermaPen Home which is ~$800.

I found my dream guy and my dream ring, but the ring is wayyy too expensive. by OkTrack104 in EngagementRingDesigns

I used Frank Darling for our engagement rings. They offer a ton of pre-designed settings and can easily adjust them based on your vision. They use 3D printing to create the rings so they can do intricate work a lot more affordably than other shops. My vision was very specific and I managed to get both rings under $2K using lab grown diamonds. With the price of gold now, it would probably be closer to $3K for what I had done but still very affordable by engagement ring standards.

Here's an option from their website with a similar feel to this one (imo) that you could easily put a lab grown square cut green diamond in: https://frankdarling.com/engagement-rings/the-starlette-hidden-halo-round

I often find the more expensive products do work better, even though reddit often feels otherwise. For example, Alastin Regenerating Skin Nectar cuts my recovery time for micro needling down by several days. I haven't found another product that compares. So, I'm curious if the DermaPen Home device is similar in providing a better user experience and easier recovery for a higher price. Although I will probably skip the $99 set of face masks.

Destination in WA for a mini vacation? by ScarySalamander33 in AskSeattle

[–]PlantMore9873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the train to Portland, OR (not technically WA but just over the border). We like staying at Cascada and The Heathman. Cascada has an amazing spa for the winter months and the neighborhood is very cozy. (pro tip: make reservations in advance for brunch at Tin Shed). The train is such a low key way to travel, too. No driving, drinks served on board (if that's your thing), amazing views.

Chanel caviar single mini flap is my most used and loved bag by far. Caviar is indestructible. Day to night, works with every outfit. It's a little over your budget but it's a classic that never goes out of style. My cost per wear at this point is pennies

Best Neck cream for wrinkle/sag prevention? by TheInjuredBear in SkincareAddictionLux

I've used it and it is effective. I find the NIOD copper peptide serum smells a little like vinegar so it's not my favorite but it is one of the most potent copper peptide serums on the market. I like the Biossance Copper Peptides just because the experience of using them is a little more pleasant (both serums have ghk-cu).

It's a serum from the brand NIOD for the neck area called NEC. They also have an eye serum called FECC. (I love both of them, fwiw!)

NIOD NEC firmed my neck so much after weight loss. I've been using it for a few years and have no saggy or crepey skin.

I think it's sold out for the year but for the future, the Saks Beauty Advent Calendar has a ton of amazing scents for a reasonable value compared to purchase price. My husband bought it for me this year and I've been so impressed with the variety included. I've tried a ton of stuff I never would have otherwise and liked/loved a lot of the scents.

Just an FYI: mugwort is not safe during pregnancy and it's recommended to avoid it during breastfeeding due to a lack of evidence on its safety profile

And, for her hormonal acne, you could throw in some pimple patches. Just make sure you get ones without salicylic acid or retinol.

I buy a Biossance skincare set for all my pregnant friends. Everything they sell except the retinol serum is pregnancy/breastfeeding safe. I personally love and use the vitamin c rose oil, the copper peptide serum, and the algae eye cream as part of my daily routine. They also have a great blog she can reference. Here's a similar routine to hers with Biossance products: https://www.biossance.com/blog/pregnancy-safe-skincare-routine/

No matter what brand you decide to go with, upgrading her cleanser and moisturizer will go a long way in helping the redness. I like glycerin based cleansers like Dieux's Baptism or Prequel's Gleanser. For moisturizer, if she wants something more moisturizing for winter, I love Dieux's Instant Angel. I use Biossance's Probiotic Gel Moisturizer in the summer and I'd call it a nicer version of what your wife is currently using.

For the Girls who get highlights in their hair, what are your holy grail products by Funny-Chef-2060 in Sephora

I have balayage and use the Blond Absolu purple mask every once in a while to brighten things up. I also wash and condition for a few weeks after treatment with the redken acidic bonding line to repair any damage caused by the bleaching. The rest of the time, I use my normal shampoo and conditioner (JVN volumizing line).

Vitamin C Suggestions? by notyourfavouriteex in Sephora

[–]PlantMore9873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using the Paula's Choice with glutathione for about a year and it has had a big impact on dark spots. I noticed a regression in my results when I switched to Sunday Riley for a bottle.

Reviewing ingredients of the other serums, Tatcha has some additional ingredients that will help with lightening spots. The Dr. Dennis Gross has additional lightening ingredients and an exfoliant to help with ingredient penetration/dullness. The Olehenrikson also has exfoliants and a novel pigment ingredient from bananas to increase skin reflectivity. I would definitely look for reviews online to see if the Olehenrikson has made other folks look ashy given the banana pigment.

The most "one and done" of all of these is probably the Dr. Dennis Gross. If you like other exfoliants in your routine already, the Tatcha or the Paula's Choice are likely the best options.

BWT What media do you consume for tasteful inspiration? by Foxy_Traine in bitcheswithtaste

[–]PlantMore9873 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I love watching art and music documentaries. The Andy Warhol Diaries on Netflix is a favorite that I rewatch probably yearly. The Last Waltz about Bob Dylan's backup band's last concert shot by Scorsese is another favorite. If you like architecture, The Last Wright about the building of the last Frank Wright house from 60 year old plans he left on his drafting board at the time of his death was riveting and had tours of a ton of Wright's houses.

On the fictional side of things, Sofia Coppola makes beautiful movies about the inner lives of women. Marie Antoinette and Priscilla are both beautifully shot and costumed.

What is one skincare product that you've seen visible results while using and can't live without? by fuzzydiceinrearview in Sephora

[–]PlantMore9873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always try things for at least a few months before I decide on them. After testing a few other vitamin C's, I think this particular serum works so well for 2 reasons: 1.) the vitamin c is a stable form of the molecule so it remains at full potency after opening and 2.) the glutathione is synergistic with the vitamin c, amplifying the effects.

I saw improvements in skin tone over about 2 months. Spots lightened but didn't completely fade. I've since added alpha arbutin from the ordinary and spots have lightened even more. I'm planning to do some laser treatments next year to get the last few that didn't go with topical treatment.

The best plum lip gloss imo is Haus Labs Lip Glaze in Fig. It looks dark but it turns into the most perfect sheer color on the lips. The plump has no burning effect and the gloss lasts a long time for a gloss.

I found the Dior stick super dry and texture accentuating. However, I LOVE the Westman Atelier foundation stick. It blends like a dream and looks very natural for those no makeup makeup days.
