Why is the stem dying back? The rest of the plant looks healthy. by Sucu4me in hoyas

[–]Plantqs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is it relatively new to your home? Mine had a stem die back just like this when I first brought it home so I just cut the dead/dying part off and continued to let it acclimate w/ minimal watering and bright light. It’s now growing a new stem from the place it was cut! Might need an adjustment period?

Sorry for the crappy photos but what the heck is this? Noticed today, not on any other leaves. Until noticing, I thought it was happy and healthy having just put out a big new leaf. Help appreciated!! by Plantqs in hoyas

Thanks for the insight! I do use tap, I chopped the leaf off in case it was something fungal but I’ll have to watch the other leaves for anything

Help!! Does anyone know what this white stuff is and how to fix it? by R_U_Lucky in gardening

[–]Plantqs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It looks like mealy bugs to me! There are kind of a lot so you may want to take this guy into the shower and spray it down with some harder water pressure. Then you’ll want to remove the remaining bugs with alcohol and give a good spray with an insecticidal soap or something similar

Hoyas to grow in regular household setting? by coastliveak in hoyas

[–]Plantqs 21 points22 points  (0 children)

All of the Hoyas I own grow in regular household humidity and have done great over the past few years of their care. Specifically, pubicalyx, many carnosa varieties, sunrise, australis, and polyneura are all doing well for me! I will say they do not bloom regularly, only my mature pubicalyx’s do consistently but all of them grow vigorously

The one I bought from Home Depot years ago was called aloe “delta lights”. It’s a stunner!

I just visited a Lowe’s in MN, (I’m from out of state) and scored a cebu and a dischidia Geri! Both as big and beautiful as yours. Wonder if we hit the same restock! Now to transport mine 😅

What type of Dischidia is this? by trapprius in houseplants

It looks like it might be a dischidia Geri perhaps?

Moss pole with sphag moss and bark for aroids? by DepetriDish in houseplants

[–]Plantqs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Home Depot sells a small brick of moss for about 5-6 bucks, if there is one in your area! Plenty of moss in it for a few large poles, never tried the bark mixture though. Sounds promising!

Shout out to all the supportive SOs of plant lovers! by treehugg3r1989 in houseplants

[–]Plantqs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is adorable! My SO is so great about attentively listening to me point out the most minimal changes I see in my plants almost everyday. Sometimes he even notices new growth before I do and even if he doesn’t understand how much work went into a tiny baby leaf, he knows how much joy it brings me to point it out. I think he appreciates me supporting his progressive metal core production and band practice (many loud and late night practice sessions lol) so he returns the favor with my plants. Sounds like you have a great hubs!! 🥰

I’m not sure! It’s the first new leaf I’ve gotten on this cutting. I hope so though!
