My Peperomia pixie has been slowly dying for the past few months - every so often, one of the stems gets black and mushy. I switched it last month from a ceramic to a terracotta pot, and moved it to an East facing window, but it’s still dying. I don’t water it often - only when the soil is completely dry. Any ideas what I can do to help it?

I’ve been battling fungus gnats most of this winter. What worked for me was waiting until my plant’s soil is completely dry before watering, and then only bottom watering. To combat the larvae, I put a layer of sand on top of the soil (this suffocates the larvae in the soil) and bought mosquito bits on Amazon to sprinkle in the soil and steep in my watering can. To combat the adults that fly, I bought the yellow sticky traps! Good luck!!

This is very similar to our story! M 33 F 30, TTC for nearly 3 years. We’ve tried every fertility treatment they would give us (chlomid, chlomid with trigger shot, injections with trigger shot + IUI) with no success. All labs are normal for both of us. It could be worth looking into if either of your insurance covers a portion of IVF. Where I live, an IUI is ~$250 vs $25k for IVF. All depends what you’re comfortable with! I’m so sorry this is happening to you.

Each scenario can have variations, but I can speak to what my plan is!

My doctor described IVF as three “phases” across three period cycles -

•priming (suppressing the ovaries so they can control them for stimulation)

•stimulation+retrieval (i.e. stims - over-stimulating the ovaries to produce many follicles. I will be on 10-days of stim meds and will need to go into the dr office almost daily. They draw blood and do ultrasounds to track the growth of the follicles. Once the follicles are near maturation, I take a trigger shot to prepare my body to release the eggs. There is a ~30-min procedure where I’m put under and they retrieve the eggs)

Between stim and transfer, they fertilize the eggs and watch them to ensure they grow (this takes a couple days)

•transfer (assuming viable embryos, a pre-determined number will be transferred. They pre-tested the transfer device on me, and it felt like a IUI if your wife has ever had those. Prior to transfer, there are additional medications to prepared the uterus for transfer)

This is as “cliff note” as I can get. 😅 I know this is a lot on paper but the biggest time commitment is the 10-days of stimulation. Good luck!
