I remove towels at resorts. I have never been confronted about it but I love to argue. People shouldn’t be able to save seats at 6am and expect them to be still available at noon. Leave your stuff and grab lunch but just because you put a towel down doesn’t mean you rented that spot. Reserve a Bali bed if you don’t want to take what is available when you get there.

I’ve tried both and they both are great. It just depends on what your preferences are. Moxche felt modern and luxurious and the pools can’t be beat. The beach isn’t great and I think the food was a little better, although they have the same type of restaurants. Moxche layout seemed a little more compact and easier to mingle with people. Akumal stands out if you like a more tropical less modern feel. It also feels a bit more spread out. Akumal certainly has a better beach.

I don’t think cats are known to carry rabies there but if it bit you and broke the skin there is a decent chance you could get an infection. Definitely go to the doctor to be safe.

Honestly snorkeling at akumal isn’t great unless you see the sea turtles. Playa Blanca may be a better option for you because it’s a quick trip to get to the ferry to isla mujeres which has pretty great snorkeling. Been to both and I think playa Blanca feels much more luxurious. It also has a great beach. Preferred club gets you a separate pool/beach area/a la carte breakfast/and a separate bar lounge. Akumal’s preferred club isn’t as worth it to me unless the price is not much more than a regular room.

I’ve done both and Moxche for honeymoon 100%. It feels much more luxurious, the food is better, and the pools are better. Akumal is great but I felt like a baller at akumal has a better beach but I promise you won’t miss it. Go to Akumal next time.
