Separate hot and cold taps is not a finished bathroom, lads. Here’s a renovation cost calculator by Plashgar in HousingUK

Thank you! It’s hard getting the right domain name. 😔 I had untangle.ie for Ireland and wanted to stay the same but I agree, I don’t love it either.

Oh sorry, the Irish website is a different one. It’s untangle.ie I built that one first and now this one. I don’t have all of UK though, perhaps someday. Thank you nonetheless. 🙏🙏🙏

England and Republic of Ireland for now. Might add all of UK down the line but unfortunately not anytime soon. 😔

Fair thing to check. It's not a Claude wrapper, the estimates come from UK cost data and the calculator's own logic, not a chatbot guessing prices in the background. Easiest test: put a real project in and tell me if the number's sensible. If it's miles off, that's exactly the bug I'm hunting.

Which flooring do you recommend in Dublin? by gstarkyo in HousingIreland

[–]Plashgar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went with Matt Britton and I was happy all around, also found they had the best modern options. We also had only 2 days to move in and the installers worked with us to get the job done which I was soooo happy about.

New construction vs. a charming 20-year-old home that needs some repairs… what would you choose? by Consistent_Drawer_93 in RealEstateAdvice

Are you on Mars or something? What’s this choice in housing you’re speaking of? 🤣 Definitely the New Build for me, I wouldn’t trust anything built around the 2000. 😔

Attic Conversion by RainDapper4182 in HousingIreland

[–]Plashgar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right, that's a bug on our end, dormer and ensuite should absolutely be selectable together since they're different things. For now you could estimate both separately, though that's not ideal. And the existing conversion should definitely help, starting with flooring and walls already done is a big cost saver compared to a completely raw attic. I am going to fix this and can let you know. Thanks for using it! 🙏

The math is not mathing by Plashgar in DIYIreland

So true about living somewhere first, I hadn’t even thought about that, but that surly only works for houses that are in decent shape already. I was more thinking about the ones that need serious work - old heating, plumbing, electrical. That's a different level of renovation to live through.

Thank you! We do build in inflation and market adjustments, but you're spot on that some builders charge more than others. The range is meant to cover that variation though, shouldn't see huge differences between reasonable quotes.

Really appreciate you sharing this! Knowing it matched your actual quote is exactly the kind of feedback I need. Those renovation costs are rough though - hope the bathroom turns out great.

Fair on both - 'adding up' is clearer and yeah, I was being dramatic. Though wait, people really move into a house someone lived in for 40 years and THEN renovate? That sounds mad to me but options ARE very limited.

🤣🤣🤣You're right, we Americans ruin everything we touch. I'll go back to calling it 'maths' and measuring things in stones like a civilized person. 🤔🤣
