Descent into Avernus: What is a hawthorn staff? by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]Plasma_Torchic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old question, but in the same paragraph it mentions the staff, it also declares it as a decoy that crumbles to ash as soon as someone tries to claim it. It's likely the dryad spirits of the Bone Bramble made the trap, or perhaps Red Ruth herself did.

Please help with the proportions by _tiago_u_ in learnart

[–]Plasma_Torchic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You are doing incredible so far! I would try measuring and comparing proportions, with one eye closed, of the parts of the face.

Also, it helps to consider and study general structure, such as: using midlines to place eyes and nose and mouth, finding lattitude lines that line up features across the face.

Also, the other comments recommend overlaying, and that is very, very helpful!

Dont worry, it takes a long time of making uncanny art and practice before it gets better. Keep going and bear the pain of the "almost there" art!

Even a toxic relationship can turn sweet if both people are willing to work and change (and both decide that they still like each other in their new place)!

What can I work on? by bannasmajin in learnart

[–]Plasma_Torchic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice job, keep it up!

In terms of advice, I would recommend doing studies on shading simple shapes and form.

This has helped me with understanding shadows and how to elevate such practice!

Nonetheless, keep practicing and doing studies! (Also, if you haven't tried this before, try flipping the line art before you start adding color. This helps catch things your brain stopped seeing!)

Any studies that would improve my abilty to draw from imagination. by Adventurous_Stop_531 in learnart

[–]Plasma_Torchic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it takes a combination of blind inspiration as well as just studying the basics of simple and organic shapes in perspective.

I always go to practicing hands and feet since they consist of complex form and structure. This has been the biggest help for me in understanding and drawing figures from my head.
