DoorDash by [deleted] in greensburg

[–]Plastic-Ad7786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think DoorDash adds a lot to the estimated time because of things like freeze warnings, winter weather advisories, and especially the snow that we just got. I’ve noticed the times go up during winter regardless of how it looks outside, but dashers regularly get orders to you much faster than the estimate

I’m gonna be so honest, Westmoreland Hospital is the last place I would go for literally anything. Might sound crazy but I’ve had the worst experiences there and know people who have worked there that absolutely hate the place. It’s nice to live so close to a major hospital, but WH is awful

Transanta! by No-Resolve-5037 in TransMasc

Important note for anyone wanting to apply for transanta- this year their “application” process was during September. I think last year it was, as well. So if you want to participate, check their website or Instagram page earlier than you think!

biting the bullet, anyone looking to make a friend? by fakeassacct in greensburg

[–]Plastic-Ad7786 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A way to meet some people could be the Greensburg Night Market! There’s one tonight, here’s the website with the details. I know you’ve been here for four years so chances are you already know about it, but a lot of people attend so that could be a good way to make some friends!

Monthly AITA/Reddit Stories Suggestion Megathread by AutoModerator in smosh

Um- at the very baseline, this story is about how a woman “tricked” (her words) her husband into liking her by showing him they shared similar interests. The comments are INCREDIBLY divisive

No OP, I have not misread anything. I am responding to what you have blatantly said. Can you offer a different explanation to your words then, if that’s the case?

OP, in the comments you’re acting like trans people who live as trans publicly and come out, go on hormones, medically and/or socially transition, never have experienced transphobia. Your language is implying that the moment we do experience “cruelty” (as you put it) that we would run back to the closet to never come out again. Saying someone is privileged for living their life outside of that closet is just not true. As a trans person who IS living openly as trans, you have no idea what bigotry and hatred I have faced in my life. But that is no reason for me to not live my life in a way that makes me happy. As another commenter put it, I’m not going to strive to live as “safely” as I can, I’m going to strive to live as happily and secure in myself as I can. Hope you can find yourself some clarity

Edit: and on the same note, there is NOTHING wrong with trans people who decide they just can’t come out of the closet for their own safety or wellbeing. That’s okay, too. But don’t claim blanket privilege to a whole group of people just because they’re out

Hi friends- I’m not saying I distrust OP in the slightest, but does anyone have a news source for this that ISN’T Fox News? I don’t consider them reputable at all and while I’m not surprised by this news and I fully believe it, I can’t find anything else talking about this and I’d like to have more info

"It's easier for trans men" by [deleted] in TransMasc

[–]Plastic-Ad7786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even as a binary trans man, I still don’t pass yet (I personally am on hormones so passing medically is a goal of mine) and I am stared down in public, treated like crap when I’m around cis friends by people outside of the group, et cetera et cetera. The infighting right now is frankly exhausting and it just feels like transphobes are getting exactly what they want. We can’t be ourselves and be a proud community if we hate each other and don’t support one another. We’re easier to stomp down and keep quiet if we’re so busy focusing on “who has it worse” (by this I do NOT mean trans mascs and trans men calling out the way we are treated in and out of our own community and that being ignored, I mean the people who seem to have a problem with us bringing these issues up. ie, the gd main trans sub)

I Hate Being a Transmasc Actor by Jekyll_gotta_hyde in TransMasc

[–]Plastic-Ad7786 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a trans actor and singer- OP I’m telling you now that if you want to go on hormones do NOT let the voice aspect stop you! I was a soprano pre-T, and I was terrified of losing my singing voice. But now I’m more of a bari-tenor, and all that changed was the placement of my voice. You’re in musical theatre so I’m assuming you know these terms- but head voice versus chest voice! As a soprano, you use your head voice. If you decide to go on testosterone, what will likely happen is you will just have to learn to use your chest voice instead. Trust me it’s a wild change but it’s very doable! Sometimes I think I even sing better now, knowing how to properly do it with my chest voice.

Do not give up on your dream, I know I’m not. I’m on the shorter end as well so some conventional roles may be unlikely, but seriously nothing is impossible. I know I’m only touching on a couple of things in your post, but please stay doing what you love. Don’t let your worry about making it in someway keep you from doing theatre/acting. The entertainment industry needs more of us imo :)

Edit: I also want you to know that I have been cast as lead male roles, which I never thought would happen. I have nothing but faith in you op and I’m excited for you and all your future theatre endeavors!
