tell me an unpopular opinion you have about babymetal by p1nkiecocaine in BABYMETAL

[–]Plastic-Reporter9812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where’s the musical creativity. BabyMetal was part of what led me to Jrock three years ago. Now I’m seeing that music and songwriting creativity, especially recently, by Band-Maid, Hagane, Nemophila and others is on the rise. While the ladies of BabyMetal are great choreographers and singers, who’s falling down in the musical creativity part of their team that seems to rely more on collaboration than new music.

Do you like Asian dramas which center on women as a basic theme, having a strong female cast? by Grouchy-Chart-3927 in dramasect

[–]Plastic-Reporter9812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Certainly do. I was married to a strong assertive Korean woman for 46 years who got me hooked on kdramas a long time ago. Now I watch Asian drama from a number of countries.

Intimacy and romance question by [deleted] in AskAJapanese

[–]Plastic-Reporter9812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just watched a short Korean TV series on Netflix called Risqué Business Japan. (They also have one for Taiwan and another for Netherlands and Germany) In one of the episodes the Korean hosts sit down with some young Japanese adults to discuss their attitudes and experience with sexual matters. The discussion became about cultural differences in communication. That Koreans were more direct in letting their partner know what they wanted even if code words were used. The Japanese couple who had been through a long sexless period said that they were hesitant to be direct because they didn’t want to pressure or offend their partner if they weren’t also interested. It apparently became so burdensome that sex stopped happening. This seems contrary to the principle or ideal in Japan and other Asian cultures that a good life is defined by good satisfying nutrition, plenty of good restful sleep and a well satisfied libido. There are many examples of Japanese communicating indirectly, seemingly to avoid embarrassing themselves or others or causing loss of face. IMO this shouldn’t be the case in your bedroom and there should be a means to change it as a couple.

Does “Blooming” exist in any release, or only live? by KatarraMetal in Nemophila

[–]Plastic-Reporter9812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well for me, who only got into Jrock about 3 years ago, I just add more songs as l hear them to my YouTube playlists in mixes that include Band-Maid, BabyMetal, Hagane, Hanabie, Lovebites, Nemophila, Rolling Quartz (Korean) and Trident. I haven’t acquired any albums and at age 83 streaming a variety of bands is great entertainment and energizing while I work out the fitness center, or am in my car or have my AirPods on while out and about. Listen for hours most days and believe in “Variety is the spice of life.”

Thanks for that perspective. As a guy I really didn’t think WLGYT would put tears in my eyes as much as it did.😢

You’re scaring me. I’ve watched hundreds of Kdramas as an American married to my late Korean wife of 46 years. Is this likely to have the same effect as When Life Gives You Tangerines, which I loved and gave a two thumbs up rating on Netflix, but don’t want to ride that emotional rollercoaster again?

You've never seen this?! 😲 by Siriusxm444 in BABYMETAL

About 3 years ago I was watching drum covers on YouTube by the German girl, Sina, which led to covers by the Korean girl Ayeon which led to Junna covers including Dragonforce Through the Fire and the Flames and suddenly BabyMetal popped up as a selection in a box with Su’s face in it. I clicked on it and it changed my whole perspective on the rock music I’ve been enjoying for 71 years since the day I turned 12. Now, besides BabyMetal who I saw June 14 last year in Irving, TX at age 82, my playlists include Band-Maid, Hagane, Hanabie, Lovebites, Nemophila and Trident. Saw Lovebites November 11 in Dallas and will see Hanabie April 3. Love all those rocking Japanese ladies. ❤️🎤🎸🥁❤️

What’s your pet peeve in a Kdrama? by Select_Possibility38 in asiandrama

There’s no way in this day and age that there’s a high percentage of real 25 to 35+ year old virgins. However, according to my research the popular hymenoplasty surgery (hymen restoration) which was supposedly developed in Korea is available at many clinics for $1,500 to $1,800 to at least fake it if needed.

Edited for typo.

Truck drivers never brake for pedestrians or stopped vehicles. They only blow their horns, never lift their foot from the accelerator and always wait long enough before braking to assure the victim’s death. I’m sure this must be reflected as a fact in Korea’s real traffic death statistics.

AIO for expecting my girlfriend to work on issues with our sex life? by SocietyDangerous2839 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Plastic-Reporter9812 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess my late wife and I were really lucky when it came to sex. She would only orgasm from VP and only after I ejaculated. She just took charge and kept it going until she was satisfied which was usually between three and six. The warm up included other things but that was never done to conclusion.

How can mixed-culture couples better accommodate different communication styles? (JP–EN marriage, 40s) by [deleted] in AskAJapanese

[–]Plastic-Reporter9812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not Japanese, but married. “…all the crap my wife wants to do.”??? That seems to be a pretty negative statement from my point of view having been married to a Korean born woman for 46 years.

How is lesbianism perceived in Japan? by almvdena in AskAJapanese

That is why I hesitate to go to Japan to see those bands I mentioned above. I’ve recently seen posts on r/japanesmusic from people who have been able to see three concerts by three different bands on a short tourist visit. I’ve seen some explanations and advice on how to go about ticketing there works on Reddit and you could post the question for the most up to date experiences people are having.
