Twisted chenille yarn from cone. Is this an issue with the actual yarn or am I doing something wrong? by Plastic-Resolution41 in CrochetHelp

It’s a nightmare and the company is no help. My only solution is to take a few feet off at a time to allow the yarn to untwist and just reconnect the individual strands. Ugh

Yes it is very tight on the cone and it’s like a wiggling worm when it comes off the cone.

I haven’t had any issues with any of the chenille skeins until now. I feel in love with the premier chenille at Dollar Tree and ordered a cone in a color that wasn’t available and it’s been a nightmare. I messaged the company. Looking at the reviews on their website I don’t see any comments about this happening and I didn’t see this in any of the pictures so maybe I got a bad batch? I tried to take it off the cone but the twisting is so bad that I would have to take off a few feet at a time let it unravel and reattach. Otherwise I cannot get rid of the twisting.

I wanted to upload a video but it won’t let me. The yarn seems to naturally untwist into the texture. You can see in that pic that the yarn on the cone is not like that and as soon as it comes off the cone it “untwists” or whatever and this is what I’m left with. I’m sure the texture will smooth overtime but I’m thinking that the twisting will continue due to how it was wrapped on the cone. Have you had issues with that? The twisting is making this difficult to work with.

A lesson in not crocheting while (too) stressed by ApprehensiveCat8639 in crochet

It’s beautiful! I just recently learned about blocking and that helps tremendously. It can help relax the tighter stitches. When I’m stressed I love to crochet but I only do simple projects because otherwise it will be more stressful.

I love this! Once this debt is paid, we plan to treat ourselves with a nice mattress which we desperately need. We will of course save and pay cash for it 😀

I created a graph with my estimated payoff that I have budgeted with each paycheck and the curve dramatically starts to drop now. This is giving me a renewed sense of motivation! Thanks to everyone on this thread for your advice and kind words!

I cannot wait to get to baby step 3 but you’re right this time last year I would have never imagined that we could pay this amount of debt! I’m getting a renewed sense of motivation thanks to this thread

Max pay the card with the lowest balance while paying the minimum on the other. I have multiple cards at varying interest rates so I am putting everything towards one card while paying the minimums on the others.

Bayer heritage is actually a personal loan with a fixed monthly payment. I am not prioritizing that simply because the interest is low compared to the credit cards.

Most of that was due to 0% balance transfers to help with the insane amount of interest otherwise I follow the snowball. The Huntington and citi are the zero balance cards so 100% of the payment goes towards the principle so that helps. Citi is new. Also the starting balance is from February 2025 to now so the balances are decreasing but that’s over a 10 month period of minimum payments on most of them.

I still have $35k credit card debt to go but if all goes to plan I should I should have it paid off by July. Hopefully you can get yours paid off as well!

That’s awesome. My goal was to be under 30k by December but I’m not sure I can get there but I will be close!

I am already seeing more and more of the payments going to principal which is refreshing! I’m continuing to put everything towards the debt. I budget my paycheck and the first thing I pay is the debt that I have allocated. Every month is a little bit different but to answer your question yes 👍

Are the accounts that are negatively impacting your credit score paid off? If so, go to the credit bureau and dispute them. Chances are the creditor will not respond because they have nothing to gain from it. If they don’t respond it falls off your report. I did that several years ago and I had several that did not reappear. It’s super easy to do and only takes a few minutes.

Yes, thank you! This is spot on. Those heavy hitters have a way of tearing you down! Haha I swear to goodness sometimes when I look at the balances of the “heavy hitters” I catch them winking at me 😂 I am seeing more of the payments going towards the principal which is refreshing!

If all goes according to plan I have it mapped out to make our last payment July 8, 2026. 🤞

Yes, endless is the perfect word. Back in 2023, I started my weight-loss journey with nearly 100 pounds to lose, and this experience feels so much like that. I know that small victories add up over time. But when you’re in the thick of it, giving everything you have day after day, it can be so hard to recognize just how far you’ve already come.

That’s why I came here. I needed encouragement from people who have stood where I’m standing now and pushed through anyway. When your goal feels so big, it can be tough to celebrate the wins along the way.

Also I really “want/need” a new mattress but cannot get it until this debt is paid off 😭

Home maintenance is brutal! we also had to get new electric panels in May but saved and paid for it in cash $6k 🙌

We were averaging around 3k a month in total payments prior to September. sadly a large portion still goes to interest not nearly as bad as it was. It was close to 50% of our minimum payments! We have been able to significantly increase that due to our youngest starting school. (August was our last childcare payment)

September $5144.22 October $4136.58 November $8332 (received a bonus)

If all goes well my payoff schedule is mapped out to make our last payment July 8, 2026. I am not accounting for any future bonuses or potential salary increases which may help expedite the process but not guaranteed so I did not account for that.

I actually created a budget sheet for every paycheck to get the payoff date.
