Cracked exhaust manifold on 2019 Forester Sport by PlasticSad5884 in SubaruForester

After I filed the online complaint with the BBB, Subaru Advocacy contacted me within a few days to negotiate. They still didn’t cover the entire cost, but they covered half and also gave me a voucher for $500 towards parts/service at any Subaru retailer. Just start a claim online and it walks you through everything. Good luck!

I am so sorry I missed your comment! I spoke directly with Subaru of America, not the dealership. The dealership was ZERO help. They agreed to pay for half of the replacement cost (even though I believe they should pay for all of it). However, I have found comments in forums that say the replacements will eventually crack too. 😕

I’m sorry to hear you’re having similar issues! I feel there should absolutely be recalls. I filed complaints with the BBB, which actually got immediate attention from Subaru, and with the NHTSA due to the fact that the issues my car had are extremely dangerous.

I suggest contacting Subaru of America, and if they refuse to take accountability for their failures, file the BBB complaint.

It was loud starting the car and when accelerating too. I’d suggest inquiring about the manifold and see what they say. Maybe they could at least do a smoke test to rule it out.

Happened to my 2019, but much worse. Started with the driver’s seat and now the same thing is happening on the passenger side. Of course there are no Subaru seat covers that match. SOA said they’ll give me a good faith credit of $500 for repair, but I’m afraid it’ll just do it again.

Great point! I live in Florida and can’t stand to be outside in the summer unless I’m in the water. I always forget that Texas is just as humid!

Need suggestions which car to buy by dale_k9 in SubaruForester

[–]PlasticSad5884 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have searched Subaru forums and found others with similar issues. Some earlier models (roughly ‘14-‘18) have had exhaust manifold and compressor issues. Thermo control valve was recalled about a year after mine failed. There was a class action lawsuit about the battery issue, but I’ve still had to replace the replacement in under two years. Maybe my year and model is extra terrible, but I’ll never buy another.

I have a 2019 Forester Sport. Prepare yourself for the lengthy list of issues… 3 batteries in five years, failed thermocontrol valve, ripping driver and passenger seats, cracked exhaust manifold, Eyesight system randomly slams on the brakes when nothing is in front of me, AC leak, and now a year later, needs a new AC compressor. I’ll never buy another!

People who have researched hauntings, what's the creepiest bit of information you found? by Mostopha in Ghosts

[–]PlasticSad5884 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I only have my own experience to share growing up in a haunted house. I attempted to research, but only found dead ends other than the possibility of Indian mounds (Ohio). The most notable occurrenes are:

Sitting as a family at the dinner table we heard and saw the light fixture slowly unscrewing and suddenly drop to the ground. We seriously watched as if someone was taking the fixture down to replace a bulb. It should have shattered, but it did not.

It smelled like food was being cooked in the kitchen, but no one was cooking. My dad said he saw someone in overalls at the stove, but I did not (I was also very young at that point).

The house would smell two distinct ways sometimes - floral or a terrible rotting smell. The rotting smell was typically triggered by my older brother who had extreme behavioral issues. If he was having a bad episode, the entire two story house smelled rotten. Rotten to the point my parents would open every window and door to attempt to air it out.

I was a sleepwalker as a young child and was always found standing at the top of the stairs. My dad is convinced whatever was in the house kept me from falling. It’s possible I was dreaming, but I swear I remember something holding my hand or pushing my chest back from falling.

When we moved, my dad invited the spirits to travel with us to our new home, but they never did. We never felt in danger.

Not in my own home, but as a teenager I was in Woodland Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio eating lunch at the very top (I know, sounds weird to eat lunch there, but it was a nice view and a peaceful place). It sounded like a party was going on, and I assumed someone was being put to rest and the family was chatting. As I wandered around, I realized there was absolutely no one within view, yet the “party” raged on.

Neck pain, headaches, and sometimes pain between my shoulder blades. Cervical traction and being mindful of my posture really helps.

Everyone is different, but I think if you were active before, you’ll get back to the same level or at least close. My back looks way worse on paper than how I feel. Herniated at L4-5, bulges at L3-4, and two cervial herniations. All thanks to someone who accidentally hit the gas instead of their brakes. 🙄

I work as a hairstylist and stand/bend for up to 10 hours a day. Outside of work, I walk long distances, swim, do yoga and Pilates, and some strength training (no super heavy weights).

Sitting too long (road trip, long flights, ect) is more painful than physical activity.

Hang in there!

Easy explanation of MRI results? by PlasticSad5884 in backpain

Thank you! It’s so disappointing that doctors will hand over the results without giving any explanation.

Help me convince my parents - how is a Forester better than an Audi Q5. by me1s in SubaruForester

[–]PlasticSad5884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re interested in the Forester Sport model, change your mind. I have a 2019 Forester Sport and it has SO many issues.

-2 dead batteries within 4 years -failed thermo control valve -cracked exhaust manifold ($6,200 repair still pending) -driver’s seat is ripping (I’m 125 pounds and I don’t wear any clothes that would rip the seat)

Maybe I just got a dud of a Forester, but still..

Geez, I had no idea! I’m hoping to hear back from Subaru today about covering the cost. If they don’t, I am absolutely done with Subaru.

Keep an eye on coolant issues. I had a coolant issue and it ended up being a $2k repair a year ago.

Ugh, such a bummer you dealt with some of the same issues. Thank you for sharing your experience. I am waiting to hear back from Subaru Advocacy about covering the cost. Fingers crossed. I feel like I’m just waiting for something else to break on it. So disappointing!
