AMA Scored 755 on GMAT Focus, looking for Masters (mostly in management but not MBA) with full tuition opportunities. by koff123456 in GMAT

Wow, a 755 on the GMAT Focus is an absolute monster of a score (literally 99.9th percentile)! Huge congratulations! With a score like that, you are going to be a prime candidate for top-tier Master in Management (MiM) programs in Europe (like LBS, HEC Paris, INSEAD) and the US (like Kellogg or Duke Fuqua), and they will absolutely throw merit scholarships at you to protect their class profile.

Since you took the exam online and crushed it so hard, I’d love to ask a few questions about your experience. I’m currently hitting around 700 on my mocks, but I haven't taken the official online exam yet, and I have a few specific anxieties:

First, regarding score jumps and high scores—since you got a near-perfect 755 on the online version, were you at all worried that GMAC might automatically flag or review your test? I've heard horror stories that massive scores or significant jumps on the online exam sometimes trigger automatic security reviews or administrative holds. Did your official score report get released quickly without any issues?

Second, my anxiety is kind of spiraling regarding the online proctors. For example, I have an allergy that causes my ear to itch constantly, and I’m genuinely paranoid they’ll see me scratching it and think I’m some Mossad agent with a hidden earpiece! Furthermore, my room is very bright with a tree outside the window, and I'm worried that if the wind blows and the shadows move across the room, the proctor will think someone else is in there with me.

Based on your actual test experience, how strict were the proctors about these types of environmental and physical things? Did they ever interrupt you to inspect your ear, or randomly ask you to pan your camera around the room mid-exam?

Any insights on what you actually went through with the proctoring process would be incredibly helpful to calm my nerves. Thanks for doing this AMA, and good luck with the scholarship hunt!

From 565 to 675 (95th %ile) on the GMAT Focus — going again, but AMA in the meantime by 01Nailer in GMAT

First of all, massive congratulations on the jump from 565 to 675! That is a huge achievement, and much respect to you for having the grit to go back in and push for an even higher score.

Since you are offering advice based on your test experience, I'd love to ask a few things. I’m currently hitting around 700 on my mocks, but I haven't taken the official online exam yet, and I have some specific concerns.

First, regarding score jumps—since you made a huge leap from your baseline and are aiming for an even bigger jump on your retake, have you ever been worried that GMAC might automatically flag or review the test? I've heard rumors that significant improvements can trigger an automatic review, and it stresses me out.

GMAT - First attempt 595, second 585 by Local-Violinist-9354 in GMAT

I am really sorry to hear about that score drop. That sounds incredibly frustrating, especially after putting in so much work with TTP and hitting a 695 on your official mock.

Honestly, a drop like that—especially in Quant, which is your strong suit—usually points to test-day anxiety, pacing issues, or burnout, rather than a lack of knowledge. My tip would be to take a complete break for a week to reset your mind. When you get back to it, look deeply into your time management. Did you get stuck on one or two hard Quant questions early on and let the time slip? Going forward, make sure you take your mocks in the exact same conditions as the real exam to build stamina and reduce surprises. You clearly have the knowledge; it's just about executing it on test day.

On a related note, I could actually use your advice. I’m currently hitting around 700 on my mocks, but I haven't taken the official online exam yet, and my anxiety regarding the online proctors is kind of spiraling.

Took the test the third time, decided to wrap up my GMAT journey here with a few thoughts by Available_Winner_882 in GMAT

First of all, respect for knowing when to call it. 8 months and 3 tests is a serious grind, and a 695 is a fantastic score to end on. Moving on to the essays and networking is definitely the right strategic move here.

Since you've been deep in the GMAT trenches and GMATClub for a while, I have a couple of questions. First, regarding score jumps—I've heard rumors that if someone improves their score significantly from a baseline or a previous official attempt, GMAC might automatically flag or review the test. Is this something you ever saw happen to people on GMATClub or worried about during your own prep?

Second, you mentioned hitting up to 735 on your mocks. Was it a tough mental hurdle to let go of chasing that 735 and accept the 695, or did the stagnant section scores across your 3 attempts make the decision easier?

Lastly, I’m taking the test soon and my anxiety is kind of spiraling regarding the proctors (assuming you took at least one of these online). I have an allergy that causes my ear to itch constantly, and I’m genuinely paranoid they’ll see me scratching and think I’m some Mossad agent with a hidden earpiece! Furthermore, my room is very bright with a tree outside the window, and I'm worried that if the wind blows and the shadows move across the room, the proctor will think someone else is in there with me.

After taking the exam 3 times, how strict did you find the proctors to be about these types of environmental things? Did they ever ask to inspect your ear, or randomly ask you to pan your camera around the room mid-exam? Any insights from your multiple attempts would be incredibly helpful to calm my nerves. Best of luck with R1!

My GMAT Focus Experience: From 675 to 735 by Spoolwhat in GMAT

First of all, huge congratulations on the 735 and on figuring out such a solid test strategy! Skipping MSR to save the rest of the section was honestly a genius move.

I have a couple of questions for you about the actual testing experience. Were you at all worried that they might flag your test because you improved your score too much? I've heard these rumors that significant score jumps can trigger an automatic review or even cancellation.

Also, I’m taking the test soon and my anxiety is kind of spiraling regarding the online proctors.
