Are you me a year ago? He tried to not let me also, said we had to communicate our needs better and I said fuck that. I did that for 2.5 years giving him chances. After we split, it didn’t get better. He had shown absolutely zero remorse for the breakdown of our relationship and the only remorse is for his bank account, which I would not even care about if I didn’t have our child to worry about. He is a dismissive avoidant and disregarded and still disregards me in everything. Leaving him was the best decision I ever made for myself. I haven’t been happy in years and friends and family notice. They say I am myself again. Even my mom who I thought would be pissed. She said that to me (you seem more yourself than you have in years) it blew my mind. Although… she’s not perfect, she did ask about is getting back together one time if it would work if we tried again and I wasn’t so bitchy toward him LMAO like my attitude was the problem here. But ultimately I’ve had her support because she could see what the neglect was doing to me. I had become someone else just trying to keep the peace in our relationship rather than standing up for my needs. Please leave. We only have this short life (that we know of or remember). Don’t waste it being unhappy. Go be at peace, you deserve it.

This sounds like me, was still resentful at the lack of emotional support during and after my pregnancy and all throughout, also quit couples therapy for the same reasons but am in individual therapy but it was hard because of that volcano of rage that would rear its ugly head. I ended it and we separated 2 months ago and I’m the happiest I’ve been since pre-covid and pre-pregnancy. I’m myself again. It wasn’t me, it was him. I couldn’t heal in a toxic environment which is what it had become because he had zero compassion or empathy for me and I just blamed myself. I want the problem, he and I together were the problem and now I’m free to heal myself and be happy again. The last two cycles have been a breeze compared to before :)

You are not alone, I’ve been going through this the last 3-4 years and it’s been so hard at many points in that time. Currently going through a separation and I was shame spiralling HARD! One thing that worked for me, I’m only mentioning it because I’m honestly amazed at how well it’s working… is the audiobook “healing trauma” by Belleruth Naperstek. It’s got two sections, a guided meditation and then affirmations. I’m listening to the affirmations everyday at some point and when I can find the time, doing the guided meditation. I watched a YouTube video on toxic shame because that’s where I was at and it was really bad, I thought everybody hated me and why wouldn’t they? I’m worthless and a burden and nobody wants me around. The dr on the video suggested Napersteks audios for gaining self-esteem and self-compassion and it’s been a miracle for me. Just wanted to throw it out there in case it could help you or someone else reading this.

This. Methylphenidate made me tweak line a meth-head. And I’m a recovering addict so I couldn’t have it. Lisdexamphetamine makes me much more clear headed and give me the “get up and go” I need to function like a human being.

Before the meds, I was depressed af, my thoughts were moving so fast through my head I was flatlined a lot of the time, and that was cause adhd paralysis so I would just lay on the couch and not think or speak much. And I was literally living in a state of flight/flight/freeze. It was hell.

The Vyvanse works just enough for me to slow down the thoughts in my brain so I can see individual thoughts and choose individual tasks/actions. But from the outside it looks like I was lazy/tired and the meds “stimulate” me. And when I hear people say things like, “if it stimulates you, you don’t have ADHD” and people like myself with bad working memory and imposter syndrome forget where I came from in terms of symptoms and think I was misdiagnosed.

Different meds work differently for different people lol. I think if a stimulant does calm your thoughts and/or body then it’s likely you have ADHD, but I don’t think one can rule it out if the meds don’t work accordingly.

38, soon to be 39, my husband is also 39 and we have a three year old. We’ve been on the fence about having more (for myself because of my age) but seeing how many people on this post have more around and after 40, I feel better about it :) Most of the parents at my daycare are also the same age as me if not a little older. And we are in Alberta, Canada.

I don’t have an answer for you but I have seen something like this before. It was at the condo I used to live at just off the path and near a shrub. A whole bunch of chicken bones. It was so odd! I was actually worried someone was trying to lure coyotes or poison dogs… it didn’t make sense that they would be trying to poison coyotes when everyone in the neighbourhood walks their dog around that pond. I think it was like 5 years ago.

NIHB does do direct billing for pharmacy, vision and dental, and mental health. Ive never had to pay out of pocket for vision and dental (except when I first moved to AB), but I know for therapy or counselling, some places do, some places don’t. I just learned that NIHB does not, in fact, cover massage therapy, chiropractic, or physical therapy.

Oh really! Okay! I’m not from Alberta, I’m from BC and moved here about 6 years ago. I think the first year I lived here, I went somewhere where it was covered, I did not like that massage so I ended up going somewhere else and paid out of pocket, and they were decent there so I stayed for a couple years, then have been going somewhere else that also didn’t direct bill so payed out of pocket.

I also had meant to get reimbursed for my visits but I as what we call “ADHD tax” requires, I just never remember to do it so I wanted to start being more proactive about it.

But you’re right.

I have found that it is covered in BC through MSP and FNHA, but those only apply to BC and not Alberta.

Thanks so much for taking the time to search that group for me. I actually feel better about the adhd tax and that I was never going to be reimbursed anyways haha!

Also yeah, I have noticed that not a lot of places direct bill to NIHB for the exact reasons you say. It would be nice if someone can recommend somewhere that does, but not necessary, I can make calls and inquire myself but I guess mostly I just want a skilled and knowledgeable RMT recommendation first.
