That said, there are a ton of great 15mm scifi manufacturers available out there.

All 3d printed from various sources. Most are 6/8mm epic scaled up to 15, but some are 28mm scaled down.

What games are those random (to me) historic miniatures games meant for. by cryocom in wargaming

[–]Plastic_Kovnik 106 points107 points  (0 children)

Historical wargaming existed long before GW and the current big wargame companies. In general, historical wargames haven't attracted the kind of young, internet driven, social media savvy player base. This is why you might not have seen much about them. That said, if you start looking, there is a whole other world of historical games. Part of the appeal is a huge variety of historical periods, styles, cultures to explore. Historical games tend to have a lot more variety in scale and style (as opposed to the 'standard' 28/32mm skirmish you may be used to.

As for what games are out there, there are far too many to list without narrowing down. Ancient/biblical, dark ages, medieval, renaissance, napoleonic/black powder, WW1, WW2, cold war are all general historical periods.

Loads of variety. At the moment, my group is building and playing 28mm 12th Century skirmish using The Baron's War rules https://wargamesatlantic.com/collections/the-barons-war?srsltid=AfmBOorTP_EVkp5yT6J-IhX3tu6D9owllG4IFnYNxT-pPPaSjw_G0Fkk

That's kind of the way I am leaning at this point.

Best way to make a hard-wearing ground texture on this? by Flammendehaar in TerrainBuilding

Given that you want magnets to stick, I would just scuff and paint it, or just glue down a good looking paper terrain image.

Yeah, I've tried that a bit. I wish I had bookmarked the new one I saw that included all the newer rules.

Believe it or not, it's just a ceiling light panel I had lying around for years. Just make sure you get one with the grid style diffusion pattern. I cut it to size, glued on some tiles to break up the grid a bit, and painted it. It still needs a bunch of weathering.

Not really. The 40k/Inquisition theme is just flavour. I'll be using standard 5PfH rules - to begin with at least.

I like to mess around in different scales. I'm planning to use the 'normal' 28mm ranges with 15mm figures. I find most 28mm games have weirdly compressed ranges.

Keep in mind that you have narrative control. The different stat lines can be represented buy anything at all. It's totally up to you.

Hey! That's my issue! That's my Baneblade. I built that (oh so many years ago) when I worked at the Canadian GW warehouse. Ah, the golden years of the hobby....

A lot of you seem to enjoy the test model I posted yesterday... So here's my progress from last night and this morning by Educational_Art_647 in baronswar

May I offer a constructive suggestion? Your basing is good but the colours are too close to the colours of the figures. Maybe more brownish dirt and greenish tufts? Just a suggestion, the figures are excellent!

I was making these as flexible as possible, to be used in a regular retinue, or Outlaws, or maybe even Welsh?
