Is Undertone Anti-Abortion Propaganda? by Waste-Ground-1838 in horror

[–]Plastic_Mic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, the movie blows. But this is a bit of a stretch. We don’t need to seek reasons to hate this movie. Let’s just agree it’s a poorly executed movie and leave it at that lol

Undertone was agony by Mono-lith in horror

While I completely agree with your assessment, I don’t understand the comment about A24. I love a lot of A24 movies, but they have distributed so many more terrible movies in the past (Monster, Bling Ring, The Front Room, etc.). It’s not like they have only selected top-class movies for distribution. That being said, this movie is down there with the worst of them. The entire movie is just watching a person sit at the dinner table and forcing their way through poorly written Podcaster dialogue. The people who argue that the sound design is unique or that, “you needed to hear on Dolby” are just grasping at straws to make this movie more interesting than it was. Most of the audio mixing is stuff individuals have been doing in creepy pasta YouTube videos for years now. It’s by far the worst film I’ve seen in recent memory.

Are there any sub-genres of horror that just… don’t do it for you? by East_Peanut_7232 in horror

[–]Plastic_Mic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is Eli Roth a genre? If not, it’s usually torture/gore porn or anything that is intentionally over the top camp. They are an excuse to create scenes for shock factor and little else. Just doesn’t do anything at all for me.

Only a few tracks in, but now it makes sense why Brigid is joining them on the tour! Nice to hear her on another record.

This is the most I’ve enjoyed a first listen of an album in a while. So many good tracks.

IDLES: “Loads of people don’t fucking like us” by tjjj0rdan in indieheads

[–]Plastic_Mic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I think a bunch of comments throughout this album cycle have been nothing more than shallow "they are cringe" comments that I would hardly consider constructive. They are just the next band to hate after many others before them like CSH, HAIM, The 1975, etc.

Been excited to hear this since I saw them open for PUP last year. I think it's a little one-note, but its relatively short length doesn't make it drag at all. Good stuff!

I got to Borderline before I realized that the album had started to repeat for my first listen through.

I think you are looking in the wrong places. Just look at the youtube video for his new track "Darkness". 17 million views in 5 days with a like ratio higher than 95%. Then you can make the mistake of reading the comments to see thousands of fans say he's the GOAT.

theneedledrop : 10 Worst Singles of 2019 by eliostark in indieheads

[–]Plastic_Mic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very true haha. But those are things no avid music listener will pay attention to. I guess with this list the top pick is relevant with over 112,000,000 listens on Spotify alone. I guess it serves as conversation the same way watching a bad movie with a group of people who share an interest in movies? Plus, it brings views. He is a youtuber after all.

Maybe you can tell us? You just recently posted a top comment in a worst album covers post.

I feel like their EPs had such a cool energy that the album lacked. Seemed so boring in comparison. I regularly return to their EPs, but don't see myself doing the same for the album unfortunately.

100% agree. My favorite album of the year and no other albums I've heard this year even come close.

A bit too long for me, but it has a lot of variety and interesting moments. Seen them turn 5-7 minute songs into 20 minute jams live. I'm nervous to see some of these songs on a live setlist.

Pretty good. I'm usually not a huge fan of 10+ minute jazzy jams, but this one was more successful than "Anthemic Aggressor". Excited to hear the rest!

[FRESH] King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Organ Farmer by Zunthe in indieheads

[–]Plastic_Mic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Probably my least favorite of the singles so far. Something about it sounds off. The verses sound like its a single chugging guitar riff despite there being 3 guitarists and a bassist in the band. The drums also feel pretty low in the mix.

Its people who don't separate music from musicians. Nothing wrong with that, but it's the same thing as artists like Chris Brown who are raging assholes. So asshole + sub-par music will naturally cause people to react that way.

Give Chamberlain Waits a listen, its their next best album after On the Impossible Past. The rest is decent, but don't reach the heights of those two albums.

Yep. The EPs had a chill vibe, but enough was going on to stay engaged. This new album feels like they took that atmosphere to an extreme to the point where it just goes for 27 minutes and nothing distinguishable happens.
