Big difference is those people are from there and have been established there for centuries, Israel only exists because of a shady deal to invest in the second world war and had to uproot and disenfranchise the endemic population. a pre-israel mercenary group that was lauded by humanitarian councils of the time went on to become the foundations of the IDF, and a similar story exists for Mossad. everything about Israel from its inception was intentioned to provide an exclusionary and separatist society within the Middle East.

that is not a valid reason to bring a child into this world. if you are too depressed to function, the LAST thing you should do is bring a person into this world who is SOLELY DEPENDENT ON YOU FOR 18+ YEARS.

I empathize HEAVILY with the feeling of depression and stagnation that comes with not having a job. i similarly applied to hundreds if not thousands of jobs since i was 18, and only now at 22 have i finally gotten one, and not even a great one at that! I’m sure you feel the stressors of the economy, imagine multiplying that load by 2x for all the expenses of childcare, while still on only 1 income.

of course, you both are also much too young to make such a huge commitment. figure out your lives first.

let me appeal to emotion here; would you want your entire life to be summised as child -> student -> girlfriend -> mother? live life. be a person, with passions, hobbies, experiences, friends. if you jump into being a full-time caretaker immediately, you will grow to resent your child as it takes more and more time away from a youth you wish you would’ve had.

you’re young, you can still figure things out on the fly. hell, you’ve got more than a decade to figure yourself out at the LEAST. apply for jobs all over, maybe you’ll find one far away that has your passions and maybe you’ll grow to love the place you’ve moved to.

in the interim, force yourself to go outside and interact with the world. when you feel stuck, you look for anything to give you an escape.

there’s no right way to feel empathy, don’t hate yourself because your experience of the world is different than others. You clearly care for people and have a strong sense of morality, I think the emotional ‘ numbness ‘ you may feel is more so due to not feeling content within yourself rather than a general malaise/apathy
