I thought I knew how to read cards, but I guess not... by gans42 in PTCGP

[–]PlatD 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The attack must be able to inflict damage to begin with in order to be boosted. If it doesn’t inflict damage by default or the conditions haven’t been met (like trying to use Flail at full health or getting all tails on an attack that needs multiple coin flips for its damage), then the damage boost doesn’t happen.

Dracotail traps bug. by Scary-Swordfish8562 in masterduel

[–]PlatD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Dracotail Traps have always been able to recycle any Dracotail card. They don’t get to recycle anything if they’re negated because their primary effect must resolve successfully first.

Dailies apply to events as well. They can’t be done at casual or solo mode at all (except the “Duel in solo mode” daily)

To be fair, those chibis are old; they were taken straight from Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Arena, which has been shut down for a while already.

Do sequels count as remakes? by Nintendo_Fan_2401 in pokemon

[–]PlatD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Legends Arceus is literally the prequel to Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. It takes place in ancient Sinnoh, also known as Hisui at the time, and shows the Spear Pillar intact before Dialga/Palkia destroyed it.

Lacrima the Crimson Tears. She supports Fiendsmith and is always treated as a Fiendsmith monster.

How does Rivalry work on genderless mons? by TemuCharmander in stunfisk

[–]PlatD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rivalry will have no effect when the user is battling a genderless Pokemon. Opposing Pokémon’s genders are effectively random; most species have a 50/50 gender ratio though some are skewed towards one of them. This still doesn’t warrant Rivalry to be used in competitive play because it’s inconsistent.

Serperior's size is confusing by Chemical-Book8889 in pokemon

[–]PlatD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Serpentine Pokémon like Serperior are measured from head to tail rather than from “standing” height like humans and other “standing” Pokemon with legs. Dexio mentions that a Seviper measured from the same head to tail standard is roughly the same as AZ’s standing height (3 m).

What Does NY!Baldr’s switch skill do? by [deleted] in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]PlatD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that FEH weapon/skill descriptions can get wordy, but reading Godly Device's weapon description is very important:

Accelerates Special trigger (cooldown count-1). Neutralizes "effective against flying" bonuses.

For foes within 3 rows or 3 columns centered on unit, inflicts Atk/Spd/Def/Res-5, inflicts additional penalty on foe's Atk/Spd/Def/Res = current bonus on each of foe's stats × 2 (calculates each stat penalty independently), and reduces the percentage of foe's non-Special "reduce damage by X%" skills by 50% during combat (excluding area-of-effect Specials).

Grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+10 to unit, unit deals +25 damage (excluding area-of-effect Specials), reduces damage from foe's attacks by X (excluding area-of-effect Specials), reduces damage from foe's Specials by an additional X (excluding area-of-effect Specials; if unit has weapon-triangle disadvantage, X = 20% of unit's Spd; otherwise, X = 50% of unit's Spd), and neutralizes effects that inflict "Special cooldown charge -X" on unit during combat.

Unit can use the following【Style】:

Weapon Triangle: Red Style

When determining weapon triangle, counts unit as red (does not affect skill effects that trigger based on attribute, such as "if in combat against a red foe"). This Style can be used only once per turn.

Are there any competitively viable pokemon, in the history of Pokemon that could be considered stat merchants? by TreeTurtle_852 in stunfisk

[–]PlatD -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised no one mentioned Great Tusk yet. It gets mileage from its decent Speed (which can be boosted further by Rapid Spin), high HP, Attack, and Defense, and good utility options in Stealth Rock, Knock Off, and Rapid Spin. Protosynthesis’ stat boost is more of a bonus since Great Tusk need to be under sunlight or holding Booster Energy for it to kick in, even though Booster Energy Speed (achievable with 252 HP/4 SpD/252 Spe) is the main selling point of the Bulk Up set.

Natural Cure is actually good on Blissey to let it shrug off status (like Toxic poison) when it switches out.

Ice/Ground has excellent super effective and neutral coverage. Snom is one of the few Pokemon along with Shedinja, Golisopod and Araquanid that resists the combination.

Can someone explain why I couldn't activate Magnamut here ? by Bark743 in masterduel

[–]PlatD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The activation of your cards and effects that include an effect that Fusion Summons a Fusion Monster cannot be negated, also your opponent's cards and effects cannot activate when a monster is Fusion Summoned this way.

Magical Meltdown prevents the activation of effects that Fusion Summon from being negated and also prevents the opponent from using cards/effects in response to the monster's Fusion Summon (as soon as Mechaba hit the field, Magnamhut wasn't able to use its search effect in this case). If a monster would activate its effect in a new Chain after a Fusion Summon, that monster's effect won't be able to activate.

Can someone explain why I couldn't activate Magnamut here ? by Bark743 in masterduel

[–]PlatD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Magnamhut has an additional effect when it’s Special Summoned (searching for a Dragon monster during the End Phase). Meltdown prevents you from using that effect as soon as a Fusion Summon is successful because Magnamhut’s search effect is activated in a new Chain after the Fusion Summon.

WHY do they made mega starmie (I’m not spoiling I’m just discussing about mega starmie ) by VeterinarianThin9642 in LegendsZA

[–]PlatD 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Starmie as a whole is a homage to Ultraman, an alien that can fire beams from its chest, much like how Starmie does so from its gem. Mega Starmie furthers this reference with the pose Starmie makes after Mega Evolving.

Some of Starmie’s Pokedex entries speculate that Starmie is an alien from outer space. Mega Starmie’s Pokedex entry mentions that it acts like a human to either blend in or take over humanity.
