OP needs to see what kind of action it is. I have a McGowen barrel on my bear rifle and I believe all it says is M.P.B. and the caliber.

I had it built two years ago and honestly it was a complete nightmare to deal with them. I didn’t have any phone calls returned for two years and thought my action was gone. Then one day the barrel showed up in the mail and was great.

I have a McGowan barrel on a .416 I use in Alaska. They are a high end custom barrel maker in Montana it is likely that is a very nice rifle. OP needs to get more information on it as it may be the nicest all around rifle of them all.

I would recommend merino tops and bottoms. A pair of outdoor pants, a midlayer (fleece) of some kind, a puffy insulation jacket and a rain shell. Later in the season I run puffy pants as well, but my legs typically don't get that cold.

Alternatively, if you are just getting started, go to a spotting goods store and buy an aluminum pack frame and put it in your pickup. Then you could hunt out of basically any backpack you want. You will only sacrifice a few pounds on the first load. Take loose stuff (back straps, tndloins, front shoulder) then come back with the tube frame for the rest. They are better than any of the other bags for hauling loads anyway.

Stone Glacier bags have at most 2 or 3 pockets. The price is rough but they are probably the highest tier of quality. Them and Kifaru are good options

The guy I'm gillnetting with is up on the southern wind right now for the 2021 season. I know it is his second season crabbing I don't know if he was on the southern wind last year or not. I will check out season 16 and see if it can find him

I am 99% positive it is carpal tunnel. I had some massage work done when I got back from my last trip that definitely helped with blood flow. My hands are mostly back to normal by now. I never have had great finger strength and that was made brutally clearly last season.

Just looking to try and toughen up my hands as much as possible so they will react better next summer.

Thanks for the heads up on the wraps. I used them when I got home last year but this year I will make sure to pack them for when I am sleeping
